My non-working TI-99/4A

Hi everyone.

 

After years of wanting a TI-99/4A, finally bite the bullet and got one from eBay.

 

The pictures looked great and the seller stated clearly that it worked, so I bought it, I typically use a carrier service to bring things from USA to Mexico, so I cannot return anything. Anyway the vendor reputation was high enough.

 

Unfortunately after receiving it and unpacking it anxiously I discovered it wouldn't show anything in my TV.

 

I thought the RF box was failing, so I went to test directly from the connector using a RCA jack, and to not avail, so I opened it and everything looks fine but there isn't any video synchro in the VDP.

 

Still the VDP isn't discarded as I need to check the oscillator and other few things.

 

But anyway, here are some pictures.

 

I've ordered also a FinalGROM99 for loading cartridge images it should come anyday.

It's great that you have taken an interest in the TI. Perhaps we will see some of your marvelous games like Princess Quest or Mecha-8 converted?

Myself I've been checking it today, made it to oscillate and got a tone in sound chip.

 

It looks like the VDP is fried, I've already ordered a replacement chip.

broettger generously sent me a working TI-99/4A as a gift with condition of putting sound in Borzork don't worry I'll do it

 

He sent me also joysticks (cool! because that's another feature requested) plus some cartridges, so I'm in TI99 heaven

 

So thanks a lot!

 

BTW, my FinalGROM99 came and I could test myself Borzork and Astro Cube.
