JayAre #1 Posted April 3, 2018 On the back of the Super Cobra box, where the number of players is indicated, there's a small sticker to the right of the "1". Online, there are pictures of the box with and without this sticker. The sticker is covering up "or 2". Pics of both are attached below. Since this is a single-player game, it appears that Parker Brothers used the sticker to cover up the mistake. This reminds me of a couple of Atari's later releases, where black tape was used to cover up the incorrect controller on the cart. For those Super Cobra boxes without the sticker, I was wondering if the sticker was removed by the game's owner, or if perhaps Parker Brothers just didn't place the sticker on all the boxes. I guess there's not much more to be said about this, but if anyone has any additional details regarding this, it would be interesting to hear. By the way, does anyone know of any other instances similar to these in the 2600 library? Thanks.
+save2600 #2 Posted April 3, 2018 My copy of Super Cobra has the sticker. And judging by the quality of it, is probably the kind where if you tried to remove, would take up some of the box art with it. I'd venture to guess this might be a case where the error went unnoticed for some time and early copies already in circulation, wouldn't have had the sticker. I hadn't noticed that about the sticker. Thanks.

Mine doesn't have the sticker, and never has. I've owned it since new, and wouldn't have removed it. So either they hadn't caught it yet, or missed it.

It looks like yours is part of the original batch that went out before Parker Brothers noticed the mistake. Out of curiosity, why were you worried about the thread title? JayAre #7 Posted April 7, 2018 Click on worried, it's the box Nathan created. SW, thanks for the clarification. I didn't know Nathan created the box. I can see how he would be worried.
+Nathan Strum #8 Posted April 7, 2018 Just to be clear - I created this one. Not the PB version. We spend a lot of time proofreading homebrew boxes and manuals to make sure there aren't any mistakes. Inevitably, it seems something slips through. So that's what I was worried about. (Not so much worried, but potentially annoyed. ) And as a free plug - if anyone who likes Super Cobra hasn't played John's version yet, they really should!
