TIPI Usage and Support

Hmmm.

Took the speech off, took off the sams and tipi sidecar, opened it up, nothing looks out of place there.

Put it all back together.

CALL TIPI from RXB works ok now.

So does RUN TIPI"..." and OLD TIPI.

Loose connection i guess. (?)

The memtest definitely does not say anything about sams detected.

From RXB, i can do CALL AMSINIT and SIZE, it shows the expected results.

Have not tried running anything sams specific like "in the dark" yet though.

Just tried the disk version of the megademo and picked 512k version, its working.

Where did you get the v1.5 memtest?

The one on https://www.jedimatt42.com/downloads/32kexptest.zip

Only seems to be v1.3

Oops, I should fix that link...

Does the megademo run from TIPI? That would be good news, it didn't last time I tried it.

Yes, tipi + sidecar sams + disk based megademo = sams version worked.

Did not let the whole thing run, but it booted. Watched the first minute or so before i killed it and went back to XB.

  • 4 weeks later...

Last time I updated to the new image (buster) on RPI 3B+

(I think I turned it 1x off without proper shutdown).

now I cannot do CALL TIPI.

(TIPI is on >1000)

* but I can reach it via Wi-Fi and can see the files and directories,

   (and I can ssh into it)

* tipi.log does not exist (I now created a tipi.log file)

*  but get all these errors

     * "settings" and "RPI configuration" does not do anything

    * "about" does not work

    * daemon shows errors

TIPI-About.docx

TIPI-Daemon.docx

Is there a way to fix this (or completely re-image and drag and drop the files again?)

Hi Globeron,

in such cases I always created a fresh SD card. Everything else just brings strange problems.

Hope you are doing well.

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang!  Good to hear from you!

I will try to create a fresh SD card in that case, I thought there was maybe an easy script to use.

(I still have my other SD-card of the older Raspbian version 1.6x ).

What I made sure of was this.

Prepare a good backup/restore strategy.

My ti- on TIpi, docs file structure are backed up daily to my windows share backup folders.

Then onto tape, yup an LTO tape daily, along with other data.

After you design a bootable SD card for TIpi rasberry pi, make sure to backup a good dated copy.

You should be back to operation within an hour of any crash, unless a hardware fault exists.
