I'm working on a multicart (a fun project i've picked to learn new things) and I'm looking for cart dumps for the following bankswitching types because it's quite boring to implement them without actually being able to test them ;-)

Seems a lot of stuff is just .ROM and not .CAR (which can help as they have the type byte in the header).

You can run .ROMs in Altirra and try the possible type to work out what it should be (a wrong type will normally crash fairly quickly).

Generally the specialty types are over 16K size except the OSS ones (all are banked?)

There's more than one OSS type though I don't know if individual programs ever used multiple formats.

2K, 4K carts (there are some like Atari's Computer Chess, Basketball (?), and Gridrunner) - these will occupy the entire 8K space and mirror multiple times.

Whether all cart types sequentially populate their file in the exact order that you'd burn to an Eprom, I don't know.

Go to the "Hooked on 8-bit carts" thread and download the "Atari 8-bit ROM list" spreadsheet that I posted there (it's close to the end of the thread). You can then search for entries according to the "mapping" column, and there are download links for most of the entries.
