Dutchman2000
Has anyone ever considered adding trakball control to Gyruss? Having a more Tempest-like interface will give greater control I think.
Keatah
Spinner would be better.
Dutchman2000
There is no spinner for the 5200 though, thus the trakball is the only other option.

ave1
The closest you can get is with a 2600 Trackball in digital mode via the Masterplay Clone. I've actually really enjoyed playing it that way despite the lack of true analog function getting through the Masterplay Clone. In the video below, go to the 20 minute 49 second point to watch it in action:

adamchevy
I wish someone would do this! In my top 5 arcade games of all time. Also, the 5200 Trak Ball is one of the best controllers ever created.
ave1
5200 Gyruss works by swiveling your joystick in a circular pattern (as opposed to merely left and right- which is the typical Tempest control method). If someone did try to reprogram the 5200 game for left/right joystick and/or left/right Trakball use, they'd have to start from ground zero when it comes to control. I'm sure somebody could use their smarts to get this done.
