+mizapf
I had some snow two weeks ago ... and more. (Sounds crazy to spend about €2k for a trip into darkness, but it was definitely worth it.) +mizapf
Yes, seems correct. Anything suspicious? Of course, I had a tripod, and most of the time it was so windy that you had to worry whether it could blow down your equipment. The wind ripped my woolen cap off my head. Most surprisingly, temperatures were just slightly below the freezing point (0 to -5 deg Celsius), although we were above the polar circle. At the same time, temperatures in Germany were around -8 to -10. The camera is a Sony a58, and after a long struggle within me, I spent the money on a better lens, a Sony 16-50mm 2.8. It seems as if it was well spent; the picture above is scaled down, but you can still see the nice display of stars. I never had a similar seeing before. +OLD CS1
Very nice work! No, nothing suspicious, just curious. It also was run through GIMP 2.8 so I was not sure how much of the original information survived the process.
Omega-TI
You know, I'm slipping. It never occurred to me to check the details, as most of that information is lost on my stuff when processed for public consumption and I rarely keep originals. One of these days I'm going to have to get yet another camera. Sadly, the best camera I ever owned became obsolete when the transition to digital from film took place, so the camera and it's lenses just sit in a bag unused. +mizapf
GIMP was just for scaling. I took the photos as RAW+JPG, and this was the "original" JPG from the camera. Still have to go through all the RAW images.

+mizapf
Ah. Cliqz. There was just a report on heise.de about Ghostery, known for the browser plugin of the same name, being taken over by Cliqz, which is a subsidiary of the German Hubert Burda media group. Concerning privacy, suspicion is in order.

+chue
There are still some bargains left on eBay Only $1795! Well according to this guy, when new the keyboard cost $900 (in 2015 dollars). So it's a relative bargain... Well maybe. On the other hand, I think I will stick to my $20 Microsoft one. Warning, lots of gushing and general keyboard love: Edited February 17, 2017 by chue

+chue
I have to correct myself - the video says that the above keyboard was $450 in 2015 dollars ($288 in 1995 dollars). It was the predecessor keyboard that would have cost $900 ($577 in 1995 dollars). I'm the cheap type so I would have never even looked at those high end systems. But, to me it does seem plausible that the keyboard could have cost $288, given that a high end 1995 system was in the $3k range (1995 dollars). Source: the following "Blast from the Past" article provides the pricing on 2 systems in 1995: http://winsupersite.com/article/commentary/blast-buying-computer-1995-141723 But you're right... $577 does seem high for a keyboard.
