I am configuring a serial port console server which has the ability to receive in-bound dial-ins, both standard text and PPP.  I am connecting at 33.6kbps and for testing routes and DNS I decided to load a few web pages.  AtariAge loads impressively quick on a 33.6k connection :)

We can fix that issue if it's too fast lol

And "Cool Hand Luke," "The Rose," Brain in "Escape from New York," and more recently his final role before his death, "Lucky."  Plus so many more.  Long-lived and versatile actor.

Unbelievably (even for myself), I just watched "Escape from New York" the first time (on Amazon Prime).

Good old 80s action.

No three-/four-fold twisted plot.

No attempt to save the Earth or nearby celestial bodies.

No elaboration on the difficult ways of life for left-handed, color-blind, denture wearers, and 6-toed people.

Just plain action.

Really enjoyed it.

Want a little history of computer gaming?

<< THIS NETFLIX LIMITED SERIES >> seems kind of interesting (so far).  You might want to give it a shot too.  If you do not belong to Netflix, you can always try the 30 day free trial.  ?

I enjoyed watching it, but I think the importance of technology advancement for game development should have been more clearly stated. I didn't like the intermezzos of pseudo pixel graphics and would rather have seen more footage of the actual games. But it's great that Netflix choose to do a series on a topic like that.

Units convention:

KB - 1024 bytes

K - 1024 bytes

Kb - 1024 bits = 128 bytes

kb - 1000 bits = 125 bytes

MB - 1 million bytes or 1024 KB, varies

Mb - 1 million bits

mb - 1/1000 bit, not possible

GB - 1 billion bytes or 1024 MB, varies

Gb - 1 billion bits

gb - just don't

According to IEC, the prefixes were modified to include an "i" for 1024 bases.

Ki = 1024

Mi = 1024^2

Gi = 1024^3

hence 10 KiB = 10240 byte

This makes it unambiguous when bandwidth numbers are given with 10-base:

100 Mbps = 100 000 000 bps

I found this Ki stuff weird at the beginning, but have adopted it fully, and feel really comfortable with it now.

Could I suppose someone here has one single 150ohm 16-pin DIP package for floppy drive termination?  I have an IBM drive that will not read, and I suspect the missing termination package is the problem -- but I cannot order them anywhere in reasonable quantities.  Yeah, I can get them for like $20 for 50, but WT* am I going to do with the extra 49?
