Vorticon #627 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) For our English speaking friends, glühwein is probably better known as 'mulled wine'. Never had it, but the idea of warm wine is not an intuitive concept for me. Yuck was my first reaction, but I'd like to keep an open mind Perhaps Yens Eike or Berry can bring some to the Faire! mizapf #628 Posted October 22, 2014 The wine is also heavily spiced, a good chance to get rid of some otherwise less drinkable stuff. It's only popular in winter. Just imagine snow under your shoes, you are starting to freeze, and a hot cup of wine in your numb hands. Well, and after some cups you'll indeed get serious talking problems. Willsy #629 Posted October 22, 2014 We have the same wine in the UK. It's called mulled wine. It's an aquired taste I was in a shop today and the had Christmas decorations out. Really pissed me off.

+Ksarul #631 Posted October 23, 2014 I may have to track down a couple of bottles of Glühwein to drag to Chicago. . .the Class VI or the Base Exchange usually has it. It is a very good thing to have on a cold day. . .
+OLD CS1 #632 Posted October 23, 2014 I hear rumor that they are considering closing the BX/PXs or the commissary as cost-cutting measures. Figure they would hit the Class VI or shoppettes, first. What is the word on the ground?
+Ksarul #633 Posted October 23, 2014 That has been bouncing around--but then they figured out that it would cost them more to do that than they would save, as they'd have to keep the overseas ones open--and the US stores subsidize the overseas stores with their sales. . . Gazoo #645 Posted October 29, 2014 I order a non-prescription drug online once a month. It's sent Fedex from a location about 50 miles from me. Here's the stupid part - the Fedex shipment goes to a destination about 1000 miles away, and then they mail it to me. Duh! Why can't they just mail it to me, save on shipping (their cost), and I get it in a day or 2 instead of a week. GRRRRRR!!!!! Gazoo

But Fedex sends it 1000 miles just to give it to USPS to send it 1000 miles back to finally get to me! Wouldn't the liability be less just having USPS do the 50 mile delivery in the first place?
