DarQ Massacres #1 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) so someone near me is selling this item, a not for resale version of the game Mouse Trap. I didn't even know there was not for resale games for the 2600.EDIT: forgot to link the item.https://www.kijiji.ca/v-old-video-games/city-of-halifax/rare-atari-game/1348800664?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Edited April 30, 2018 by DarQ Massacres

Rom Hunter #3 Posted April 30, 2018 Came with the Gemini. There were more Coleco titles with this sticker. Nothing special.
Andromeda Stardust #4 Posted April 30, 2018 I find it funny. Like how "not for resale" games on Nintendo consoles are a big deal, but sega genesis has literally mountains of not for resale sonics. Fun fact, many "not for resale" nintendo discs and/or carts were meant for kiosks and lack save functionality or are fundamentally different from the retail version. I like getting those cause I have one. They aren't super common, but otherwise it's no different than any other copy of the game.
+save2600 #6 Posted April 30, 2018 Always thought stickers like this were cheesy and removed them as a matter of course when cleaning before selling or trading. Have been tempted to remove those "insert other side up" stickers on the Intellivision Coleco games too, but typically leave them just_in_case some dummy truly needs it. fiddlepaddle #7 Posted April 30, 2018 Those Sonic "not-for-resales" came in a version with an actual sticker, and another which was just a picture of a sticker on the label. And the NON-"not-for-resale" version of Sonic is the rare one, since practically everyone got the game free with the system, and nobody needed to buy it, at least until they they reduced the price and changed the pack-in or eliminated it altogether. +save2600 #9 Posted April 30, 2018 You sir, suck, ruining the history. Pfft... the world can forget all about that chinsey Coleco 2600 clone for all I care. Just doing my part contributing to the revisionist history times we live in.

Exactly. In the case of Sonic, the original normal version is harder to find. And not only does it look nicer without the not for resale on it, it also has the stage select Easter egg in the game which was removed from later releases. (I bought mine on the day it was released)
GeekDragon #11 Posted May 4, 2018 I bought a gemini back in the day and donkey kong and mouse trap were both pack ins with the sticker on back. Always wondered if there was a premium on these carts because of the sticker. Would these be considered variations?
CPUWIZ #12 Posted May 4, 2018 Nothing special. Wrong, they are a pain in the ass to remove and clean.

Always wondered if there was a premium on these carts because of the sticker. Would these be considered variations? I mean, technically speaking yes. At the same time, the sticker can be removed so its really a matter of your point of view.
