Wanted: Common 7800 Carts

Recommended Posts

Hi Albert,

Would these shells work?

Yes they do. I tested it with an Asteroids. I plan on converting mine into a custom Harmony Encore enclosure.

Ok, so I printed the case referenced above.

Pro: It will work with a standard 7800 game

Con: because of two of the screw placements, it will not fit the large Atari 7800 boards, or CPUWIZ' versa board... unless you dremel out the top two screw holes.

At some point I will see if I can modify the mold to move those screw holes down.

Rats. Will this fit a Harmony pcb? Ibought it with the intention of having a custom shell for my Harmony Encore, but I don't want to bust the label on mine if it won't fit.

I doubt it. The Harmony board as well as most of AA's custom boards are much larger than a stock 2600 or 7800 PCB depending on how the chip layout and counts are done.

I wish someone would have trade-in credits for common Genesis cart shells!

The world can probably use fewer copies of John Madden Football, John Madden Football '92, John Madden Football '93, Madden NFL '94, Madden NFL '95, Madden NFL '96, Madden NFL '97, and Madden NFL '98.

Exactly! So when is AtariAge going to jump into the Genesis homebrew market? :)

Would the white Atari shells work too?

Can you give me an example of what a white Atari shell is?

Thanks,

..Al

I can use those shells as long as they are in good, clean, still white condition (which is somewhat uncommon for these), with no scratches and permanent marking on the plastic. I can't use these for 7800 games, though. And these carts are fairly common, so I'll only give $2 in store credit for them (also, I don't have as big a need for them).

Thanks,

..Al

Al, I'm sending a package of seventy (70) 7800 and comparable cartridges your way tomorrow! Will shoot you a PM with tracking details once I print off a FedEx Ground label.

I've always wondered, what happens to the PCB's in the games that are salvaged for cases?

I hear there is a landfill in New Mexico that used to LOVE those things. ;)

Not very environmentally responsible these days though.
