erotic Atari games actually erotic?

Recommended Posts

So i've been wondering about this for a while. Since the erotic mystique games were sold via mail order and were clearly 18+, were they erotic in any way? If you look at a game like x-man there are quite some ''nudes" in there. So did that work for people? I know that it was in the time before internet where ladies fashion magazines would 'do the trick'. So just curious. :P although I can understand if people are reluctant to tell about their alone time with best em and eat em.

I think it was more the idea that the games took a more-or-less wholesome hobby and used it for kinky purposes, rather than the quality of the imagery itself. Kind of like typing "5318008" into a calculator... wasn't exactly sexy but we all did it.

Impaler_26 you have 2600 posts. You must never post again! Or post another 2600 times (I just now realized where 5200 came from).

*lol*

I guess posting 200 times will be good enough for me. ;)

They are, if you have plenty of imagination :-)

Does cube on cube action turn you on?

Supposedly just about everywhere sold Atari games back in the day, and the market was truly flooded. More then likely just a way for them to enter the market with something unique and different from the competition and a way to stand out in the flooded market.

Pretty sure Ms. Pac-Man isn't wearing any clothes...

Does the bow count? And we all know she's a total ho, how many other women do we know that you can pay a quarter to and swallow as many balls as you want until she dies? :D

Sorry, couldn't help myself :P

And for women, it was issues of The New Teen Titans, because Cyborg was so effing hot.

Not so much erotic, than a dirty joke. I own cib Beat em and custer's. The extreme crudity nudity makes it hilareous. And the wanker in Beat em totally ripped off the Pacman death animation. I see him in my mind every time I play 2600 Pacman. Cheers... :P

But if you are asking if straight men (or women) actually get off to this stuff, I highly doubt it. Now, there's a lot of weird fetishes in this world, so it's at least plausible someone out there has pixelphilia and may become aroused by 8-bit porn. If so, nothing inherently wrong with that either.

But it isn't the norm. The X-games like Mystique Atari or Panesian NES are just dirty jokes or novelties, at least in the 8-bit era. And yeah, pr0n games are nothing new. Far more immersive mmorpgs exist with genuinely erotic cgi characters.

But that realistic or fantasy portrayal of gratuity isn't for me. I'll take the 8-bit nonerotic pixel humor, thank you. It's like when Randy Marsh tried unsuccessfully to get off to stick figure pr0n in Southpark. Some adult concepts simply do not excite the arousal centers in the male brain, but they often do excite the humor areas. It is hilareous specifically because it is so absurd. Toilet humor if you will.

Either way you interpret it; it's still entertainment. Does playing Mario or rescuing Peach give players a hard on? According to Rule of the Internet #34, "Yes..." :ponder:

Cathouse/Gigolo has blocky descriptive sex scene. For a 2600. :D Probably would have been really amazed by that in 1982. At least I was amazed with the E.T. title screen (for graphics... not in the context we are talking about) so Cathouse/Gigolo would have blown my mind.

And the Native American in Westward Ho/General Retreat (the less rapey versions of "Custer's Revenge") is nicely endowed.

But truthfully I don't think I saw any woman in a video game that was remotely interesting till about the Playstation 2. I remember when Lara Croft was starting to be considered wow-able and my first reaction was "That blocky/polygonal woman? Really?"

Oh, and American Hero on the Jaguar was awesome, but didn't learn of that till much later. (And those were simply movie files.)

I want to now hack Cathouse Blues/Gigolo and put 80s Cyborg as the protagonist. HE LOOKED LIKE A MALE STRIPPER, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

Wonder why Marvel didn't sue. It's like naming a game Teen Titan.

Ah because one only sues if one can make a profit. If Marvel sued and won they would actually lose money to the lawyers as the losing party has less money than the local trashy boobies bar.

The game were not particularly erotic. You would have to have a really low threshold if the game content aroused in any way. The games themselves were just ok and somewhat silly. I remember one of the news channels in my area had a spot on for both the nature of the game as well as a protest from Native Americans who did not like Custers Revenge since it was supposed to be promoting him raping a nude female American Indian. I wonder if I had been serious about getting the game back in the day if it would have been difficult to obtain.

I miss those days! Many video stores were purveyors of items that ordinary stores did not carry. Those areas were behind a curtain usually. Sometimes just porn, but I remember bongs and pipes too at some places.

I wasn't really into the 2600 sex games (or old enough to buy them) but thinking about those old mom and pops stores brings back fond memories before Blockbuster and Netflix. Something like $5 for 2 days rental on a tape was normal, and $5 was a lot of money. Comics were like 50¢ when we got our first VHS machine. They also made you pay $50 or something to become a member because those tapes were so expensive.
