They should have used the leftover Jaguar molds to save %99 of the design and production cost ?

Actually the one place where the VCS shines is in how I looks. I think the unit it beautiful.

What they should have done is made a custom Raspberry Pi case. They could have probably delivered on that in a few years.

I'm not as much of a fan of the design as others are (it's a flat, lined, wide box), but I agree that it would likely make for some additional sales in the Pi market. Atari already licensed out its IP for some Pi-based products, so this is the next logical step to extract a little more revenue after the VCS is no longer a thing. Depending upon how well it actually works, they might have decent sales of the joystick too, which was clearly the recipient of the most positive buzz thus far.

I don't see it. To me it just looks like a wireless router with a woodgrain applique and the antennae shorn off.

Agreed.  I really don't think the VCS design is that interesting.  But since the aesthetics are the least important thing, I don't much care.

Wow - that's SEVEN times better than the VCS case.  That piece of junk only has one LED on the front.

The original design of the case was nicer. They just had the problem that you couldn't fit anything inside it.

Basically, they made a paperweight and tried to sell it as a console. ?

Based on the clientele, they really should have tried to make a console and sold it as a paperweight.

They could sell a 5 pound lump of shit and as long as it has the Atari logo on it people would gladly pay a few hundred for it.

You just don't understand... Atari made this lump of shit, and they've been making lumps of shit for 40 years.  The rest of the world is tired of lumps made by Nintendo and Sony, and it's time a real lump expert returned to the scene.  Now pre-order your lump and wait four years for it to arrive.

Also, Atari never lied about the lump of shit they were making, nor why they needed to raise $3M to make the lump of shit.  Anyone who says that this lump of shit sucks is just a hater.  This lump of shit is gonna be the greatest lump of shit in the history of lumps of shit.

Don't forget the Atari Shit Token, where you can monetize your in-shit belongings (maggots, the old undigested kernel of corn or blueberry, etc) and gamble with them online at the Shit Casino or pay for vacations at any of 1 worldwide Shit Hotels (Tucson, AZ).

Uh, oh, looks like you stepped in a pile of blockchain!

Everyone needs 40 years to take a shit. They just do it in private. People are only hating on Atari because they took theirs in front of everyone. Duh.

Some parts of the shell are shiny, so is this further proof that one can polish a turd?

@AlecRobThis was supposed to be a FAQ and Info but instead it is Taco thread #2.  It's just another complaint thread.  I especially like OCAT whom has yet to make a post on this entire site for anything other than to complain and make jokes about the VCS.  593 posts and nothing worthwhile has been contributed to the community at large.

Similar to nu-Tari.  Three years, three million dollars taken, and nothing worthwhile has been contributed to the community at large.

Nobody's complaining.  Ridiculing, mocking, making fun of, questioning, deriding, being skeptical towards, and generally laughing at Fauxtari and the Ataribollocks(tm), absolutely.  But complaining?  My good man, we have nothing to actually complain about.  It's not our money that's been tied up in the shitshow.  We're not the ones who have been lied to.  We're not the ones who believe that anything with a Fuji on it automatically makes it better than the turd that it really is.  We're not the ones who have bought into the bullshit.

Including your post, which really was nothing but complaining.  Have a nice day!
