520ST unknown expansion

I recently rescued an Atari 520st that was donated to an e-recycler that I volunteer at. This is the first ST for me, and I am working on getting it up and running. From what I can tell from reading a few posts, this is an early 520st that does not have a built in floppy disk. It does have a cartridge port of some kind of the side. With this bundle came an expansion box that plugs into the cartridge port. It has a AC adapter hardwired to it, and a single RCA style port on the side. There is no markings on the outside other than a serial number. Does anyone recognise this?

 

 

Also, As this came with two external floppy disks, what is the order I hook them up in? There is a in and out port on each one. Does the out of the 2nd floppy go to the in of the first, and the out of the first go to the 520st?

Here are the pictures, The whole system is pretty dirty and will receive a tear down and scrub down soon.

Great to see another ST saved from death!

 

It doesn't look familiar to me though. I am guessing it's some type of digitizer since it has an A/D converter in there. That one chip with no identifying marks is the key to figuring out what it is.

Yep. it's video digitizer, or capturing device in other words. Goes in cartridge port. Don't expect Full HD resolutions, though

It's been a while, but the floppy cable goes from the ST floppy port to the disk drive IN port of the first disk drive.

Then a second cable goes from the OUT port of the first disk drive to the IN port of the second disk drive.

 

Make sure the ST and the disk drives are off before you connect them together.
