Advice to UltraSatan, Satandisk users + interesting coincidence

Do not use smartphone chargers for UltraSatan, Satandisk. They have enough power for it, but voltage is too low. I received e-mails in past with complains about bad writings. And that's what happens when there is low voltage from PSU.

I never checked that voltage until today - I mean latest smartphone chargers, which are standardized in EU . They give only 5V . And it was because problems with my UltraSatan, so I thought about trying other PSU. But did not connect it at all, after checking voltage. UltraSatan needs (and I guess that is same with Satandisk) min some 8-9 V power supply, capable to give some 500mA without bigger voltage drop.

And funny thing is that just received e-mail from guy, who talked about bad writes with UltraSatan. I asked what PSU - and yes, it is smartphone charger

I've no phone charger, got my ultrasatan connected to the iMac's USB port for its power. Seems fine (I hope!)

Yep. you have newer Lotharek UltraSatan, which has different power regulator than original UltraSatan, So, we will need to be more specific, when talking about UltraSatan,

Many people buying used ones, so older type, and then problems - happen, mostly with write , when using not proper PSU.

I use a 1amp 5V phone charger with no problems on the Lotharek UltraSatan.

 

I also have the older type with the cards top and bottom. For that I use a Jaguar power supply.... I think I also use the Jaguar power supply for the original Satandisk... but I haven't used either in a few years now.
