Top game of each Arcade Manufacturer

This should be fun...

These are my top pics. Not all are listed.

This is for original games created by each company, not licensed ones, such as Bally-Midway Pac Man, for example.

Atari – Asteroids

Taito – Space Invaders

Nintendo – Donkey Kong

Williams – Defender/Stargate

Exidy – Star Fire

Cinematronics – Star Castle

Namco Pac Man (this one was hard, I prefer Galaxian/Galaga)

Konami – Gyruss

Nitchibtusu – Moon Cresta

Gremlin - Carnival

Bally-Midway – ??? (What did they publish that was their own work other than pinball machines?)

Kee Games - Tank (Yeah, it's Atari, but what wasn't from Kee?)

No, my bad. Not my top pics, but my top guess as to probably the best earning titles...

Pretty much anything released after about 1982 (at least in North America) won't have earned as much as the seriously-popular games released before then.

That's not to say that all games released after that point didn't earn - there are a lot of examples that clearly did. But from about 1983 onwards the wave of success for arcade games was much reduced from what it had been before then.

And to clear up one point: Kee Games were essentially an Atari subsidiary. Separate from Atari as a business entity, but exclusively taking 100% of Atari's output that Atari, for one reason or another, came to the conclusion should be released either under a different company name or both another and their own.

Atari - Gauntlet

Sega - idk Frogger?

Williams - Joust

Gottlieb - Q*Bert

Cinematronics - Dragon's Lair

Universal - Mr. Do!

Nintendo - Donkey Kong

Namco - Pacman

Bally/Midway - Ms. Pacman (I believe they did this without Namco's consent)

Namco was involved with the development of Ms. Pac-man. Namco's president himself provided input.

It's a midway game but it's still a hack of namco's pacman.

I'm not sure if this thread is about their most successfull game or best game. But I like namco's pole position and atari's missile command.

Sega's most successfull game is Outrun and konami's is Scramble. Williams' is Defender. Atari's is Asteroids.

Are you talking about earnings or are you talking about units? Unit sales are something I have some specific information on from various sources. Earnings are hard to measure except when you have something extraordinary like "NBA Jam taking in a billion dollars in quarters".

Ooh, this is going to be tough because I don't always know who the manufacturer vs distributor is. I'll give it a shot.

Atari - Tempest
Taito - Qix
Nintendo - Donkey Kong (I grew up with the Crazy Kong bootleg at my aunt's deli)
Williams - Didn't like any of the arcade games, they were all too hard for me. So I'll go with Slugfest with the baseball cards.
Exidy - Venture
Cinematronics - Dragon's Lair
Namco - Pole Position
Konami - Gyruss
Butt - Crazy Climber
Gremlin - Astro Fighter (originally by Data East)
