Any Lynxers for ejagfest 3-4 November?

Go for enemy squares first. Look at how many red dots you have with the binoculars. Don't start with mire than 4 enemies. After fight go back to Penny to get healed. After yiu have cleared half of the enemies go for other girls in spa/garage/casino/pub.

You have to build up strength like in most rpg games. The building up is very fast in this game.

I had a bunch of nice guys and very few bad guys on my run, which lead to a situation where I couldn't win a lot of time.

I haven't completely figured out the relation between the route planner and the actual driving too :? (me stupid)

Also, a minor thing, but shadows under the text would improve readability (by shadow I mean just render 2 times, one time in black and second time any color with -1,-1 offset).

Thanks for the feedback. Normal driving goes in order of how squares are numbered 0,1,2,3,4,5,6...63. If you create a route you start from the square where you are and follow the blue line.

Winning time is only relevant for Medium and Hard mode. I should really remove the feature completely from the Easy mode. The Easy mode has no time limit. The bomb never explodes.

I have not tried the latest version yet ...
With the penultimate version I almost finished the game .... I cut the wrong thread !!!

Question:

Is it normal for music to disappear after many minutes of play?
Is it normal for the writing to appear, but not the building near the road?
I'm having a lot of fun!
Thanks for this game.
is fantastic. :lust:

The music disappeared in the previous version because I forgot to loop it. It is now fixed.

The writing appears before the building is visible. Perhaps I should let the writing stay for a bit longer until the building is next to you.

Now I managed to finish it in 8 minutes in medium mode. So the difficulty is now right.

My guess is that someone could solve it in 7 minutes perhaps? Spending more than 10 minutes is a bit noobish.

Hard mode is much more difficult. My guess is that you could solve it in 12 minutes or so.

I still plan to fine tune things and iron out graphic glitches. Adding clothes to characters could also be a good thing.

At eJagfest I am planning to tell a bit of the special hardware tricks.

1) XOR night sight that lights up the scene and paints the targets red.

2) high speed driving illusion with a road that does not move - no calculations required

3) 360 degree turning in real time. The stuff does not even fit in memory.

There is also a history about this game. The idea comes from a board game called "The mystery of Peking". I created a digital version of the board game for the 7DRL competition. Nobody understood the game but they liked the catchy tune from TV. The game is still good imho. The playing time is just right so that you don't sit up all night. You get a nice adrenaline rush and some nice words when you solve the game. Is it sexist? You bet! That is the cliche of all secret agent action movies.

2) imho keeping it simple is many times the greates approach :)

3) that's interresting! Did you do the streaming from cart?

It'd be fun to join the ejagfest, but I don't have the possibility right now with a new baby etc.

Here is a tamed down version suitable for part-time detectives.

Lol! :D

Regarding Lynx at ejagfest: There are always at least six Lynx consoles at the ejagfest for the Checkered Flag competition. In the last two years McWill also participated and modded consoles during the event. It's probably the best place to show off your game. I'll probably go there to get some news for my magazine ST-Computer which also covers Lynx, Jaguar and the VCS consoles (or: "everything except Atari 8-bit computers" ;)).

My big concern is to get a few Lynx units there. Plus getting the colour scheme to work on the normal LCD screen. The goal is to get around 50 carts with me in case there is interest in the game.

Today my kids have been play testing the game. They claim it is too easy so we cranked the Hard level back to 1 minute and max damage again. Penny is also getting some clothes on. The other ladies will follow soon.

I played the game more tonight, I wasn't able to beat it on medium yet. I like it that you now get a message when one of the central places are coming up when driving, giving you time to react and try to park. One thing I noticed was that intuitionally I would've thought the map/route-chooser would have wrapped, so that if you go out of the map to the right you would re-appear at the far left, this is still not very important, I just wanted to share some feedback.

I won't be there at eJagFest (it's not feasible for me to travel that far) but if anyone who is going wants to write an article to be published on the Atari Gamer website, I will be more than happy to work with you on it.
