Mr SQL
I brought out the new Atari console at a Pong party this weekend and everyone loved it! The Retron77 runs nearly all Atari games from the MicroSD and classic cartridges plug right in and looked great in HD on my Plasma Television. Casual gamers may prefer the Retron77 to playing a classic Atari console over CRT and collectors and dedicated Atari fans will apreciate having another interesting Atari console to play their games on specifically for it's minor differences and unique game frying effects. It's fantastic for Atari 2600 development too, there are four great BASIC's you can use to build and test Atari games directly on the Retron77 via the microSD card. Writing Atari games to support the Retron 77 and the broadest console base: With new Atari consoles emerging programmers can choose BASIC's that suport the largest player base or use more specialized BASIC's that may be unsupported or partially supported across Atari consoles: Flashback BASIC and SuperCharger BASIC Standard batari BASIC and DPC+ batari BASIC If you use Flashback BASIC or standard batari BASIC with a classic game ROM size, you can be sure your games will run on all Atari consoles including the Flashback portable and Retron77 from either cartridge or microSD. SuperCharger and DPC+ Batari BASIC will run on the Retron77 only from the microSD card and on classic consoles, but will not run on the Flashback portable. Getting started with Atari 2600 BASIC Programming: All of these BASIC's support modern IDE's and GUI designers, but if your last experience with BASIC Programming was using a vintage BASIC like the 1979 BASIC Programming cartridge, Atari BASIC, Commodore BASIC or TRS-80 Level I Tiny BASIC then the first link for Flashback and SuperCharger BASIC offers three quick lessons to get you up to speed writing classic BASIC games using old-school mode which is pure BASIC code with line numbers and no GUI designers, just like back in the day. Fun BASIC programming challenge for the Retron77 and all Atari consoles: What games can you come up with in 10 lines of BASIC?
