Looks like Lance over at Video61 sells new joysticks for $12.95. I'd double-check with him to ensure that the one you'd be buying is the gray CX-40 that matches your XEGS, but it's on the XE page of his site, so it should be, at least in theory. Here's the link to it:

Looks like that one on eBay has been slashed to $45. Trending in the right direction but still higher than they've gone for over the past few months.

I was looking through my controller pile and There was what i thought was the controller you sought... turns out it was the commodore 64 controller that looks like an atari controller

I’ve also seen local people selling green n64s for dirt cheap; it’s a great little app and you can find decent prices if you’re patient

Yeah, I recently downloaded OfferUp, LetGo and Mercari just in case anything catches my eye. I think LetGo is the worst in terms of app functionality and polish. OfferUp has some sketchy people (not unlike Craigslist). Mercari seems to be the most polished but I think it's all shipped and no local pickup.

Well in the past he’s sold me two uncommon 7800 games for cheap: planet smashers and basketbrawl; so it’s all good. He praises those xegs joysticks as one of the better ones he’s used

There's a pretty reasonably priced manual on eBay right now:
