Gummy Bear #1 Posted July 17, 2018 Howdy, I pretty much figure that everyone around these parts already has a rotary controller, but thought I'd share this anyway as folks might find it interesting since it's unusual. Rather than trying to learn how to post pics on my phone, I'll just leave a link www.tennokoe.co.uk Enjoy! EDIT: I decided to not be so lazy and booted up the ol' PC

Gummy Bear #3 Posted July 17, 2018 👍 Nice I want one for Tempest 4000, which launches today. Haha! I was thinking about that yesterday! Wondering if ol' Minter snuck rotary support into Tempest 4K. Jag rotary + Jag to USB. I bet it's possible.

Zerosquare #6 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) Using a color-cycling LED to backlight a Tempest 2000 controller is genius. Edited July 17, 2018 by Zerosquare

Gummy Bear #12 Posted July 18, 2018 Here's The Movie, where I demo the pad with Tempest, Impulse X and Rebooteroids I think this is the first vid on Youtube showing rotary control on the latter 2

Stage_1_Boss #15 Posted July 18, 2018 I don't have a rotary for the Jaguar yet, soon as I get paid at the end of the week, I plan on grabbing one if they're available. = ) Looks great.
+-^CrossBow^- #16 Posted July 18, 2018 Is it possible to eventually program the LED to not color cycle and stay on a static color or set it up to rotate out between the primaries with a button combo push or something? I'm all for RGB lighting as I have some in my PC, but having said that I don't have the system change colors on the fly and prefer to keep a static color and then change it from time to time. Gummy Bear #18 Posted July 18, 2018 Is it possible to eventually program the LED to not color cycle and stay on a static color or set it up to rotate out between the primaries with a button combo push or something? I'm all for RGB lighting as I have some in my PC, but having said that I don't have the system change colors on the fly and prefer to keep a static color and then change it from time to time. Not sure if that would be possible given the power constraints. The RGB LED has a peak draw of 30milliamps. The Jag controller ports are only rated for 50, so an additional microcontroller would likely push it near or over the limit. Not to mention the additional faffing about. These things take long enough to make anyway. Lol I originally had a simple red LED in my prototype pad, but thought that the phasing colour "melt-o-vision" was more in keeping with the likes of Tempest and Rebooteroids. LinkoVitch #19 Posted July 18, 2018 Might be possible to sneak one in, the AVR units are pretty low draw, might be able to use some PWM to reduce the drain from the LED too? As you say, more faff tho Very shiny work good sir!
Gummy Bear #20 Posted July 18, 2018 Many thanks Yeah it would likely be a lot of work. If anyone really just wanted a static colour, I can just swap the fancy LED for a normal one.
