What are your MUST OWN on a cartridge 2600 titles?

When I got my 2600 Harmony Cart, I did a hard assessment of my physical carts and shed quite a few that I didn't deem to be "keepers."

Just of the top of my head I would never get rid of at least one copy of:

-Combat

-Bowling

-Centipede

-Skiing

-River Raid

-Halo 2600

-Kaboom

-Pole Position

-Frogger

-Pitfall

-Space Invaders

-Pac Man

-Adventure

-Atlantis

-Frog' N Flies

-Outlaw

-Commando Raid

-Freeway

And a few dozen more I can't think of right now because i'm at work.

Despite everdrives, emulators, etc, what are your physical 2600 carts you would never consider parting ways with, no matter what.

I keep the paddle and keypad games. It just seems more convenient somehow. For joystick games, I keep a shelf (about 20) original and a shelf of homebrew/repro/imports.

Adventure, Taz, Spacemaster X7, Pitfall II, Halo, Save Mary, Dice Puzzle, and My Way come to mind offhand.

Since I grew up as a toddler with the VCS - I believe everyone should have at least about 10 of the early cartridges from the first 4 catalogs. Those are the simple-looking games. IIRC none had gone above the 4K mark.

Why? They provide a great contrast to what is offered today. It's fun to see where the system had been and, now, where it's going. Can't have that perspective till you have both old and new titles.

I actually did this when I rebooted my Atari collection in the early 2000s. Here's what I picked:

Enduro

Chopper Command

Kaboom!

Midnight Magic

Ladybug (hb)

Skeleton+ (hb)

Medieval Mayhem (hb)

Frostbite

Solaris

These are my must-haves, although of course I have more...can't trust the Harmony Cart to last forever!

On the basis I only have 14 games.... id keep all of them!

In all seriousness though, when I collected previously I shoeboxed some that I refused to get rid of:

Halloween

Alien

Yars Revenge

Berzerk

In addition Because I swore Id kept a copy, id have Pole Position and River Raid...... Im sure there in the loft somewhere.....

..... and all the paddle games...
