My review of Front Line. Anyone else play this one?

Recommended Posts

I still don't know which I like better. This or Commando. Is Ikari Warriors on VCS any good? I've been meaning to try that one also. I love Commando on 7800, but the 2600 version isn't bad. I always feel like your sprite in that game should be half the size.

My only real problem with Front Line is having to get out of the tank at the end of a stage.

Never played the 2600 version. But I loved the ColecoVision version. The super controllers allowed you to shoot in any direction despite the direction you are walking. Plus obviously the upgrade in graphics and sound. One of my favorite games on CV.

Ikari Warriors = not so good for such a late release.

Front Line is excellent for the BITD release that it is.

If it's any consolation, I value my copy of VCS Front Line and care to keep it a part of the collection, whereas - I got rid of Ikari Warriors long ago.

I'd disagree on Ikari Warriors. Like Frontline, it's a decent job porting something the console isn't really designed to run. Both Ikari and Front Line play pretty well for what they are, but are by no means games I pop in on a regular basis.

Front Line was one of my favorite games and still is. Enough, that I finally obtained an arcade cab years back.

I did have the Colecovision version and even more it's authentic to the arcade; I put more time on the 2600 version.

I recall Front Line (2600) was one of the crash game purchases at our local Camelot Music Store.
