Flojomojo #26 Posted August 2, 2018 Hahahaha, Stanley the Bugman has been erased from Nintendo history, nearly as much as (licensed) Popeye! Good call on Zookeeper. That game has such a wonderfully odd aesthetic. I would like a 2018 Zookeeper Remix with more types of stages but the same weird controls and sound.

carlsson #28 Posted August 2, 2018 Did Coleco replace the dancing go-go girls with a dancing monkey in the Colecovision version of Tapper?! I have never played that version, so it was total news to me.

Nukey Shay #30 Posted August 2, 2018 "kongo kong" - Vic-20. Notice I did not use caps for the name. They didn't bother to either.
JBerel #31 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) I don't know about best game, but my favorite video game monkey is Professor Monkey-for-a-head from Earthworm Jim. Oh, and who could forget Bubbles in Michael Jackson's Moonwalker? No, really who? Edited August 2, 2018 by JBerel
mbd30 #32 Posted August 2, 2018 Rampage and the ridiculous Donkey Kong 3. Donkey Kong 3 is horrific and WAY too easy. It also has nothing to do with Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong jr. Donkey Kong 3 is easy for others, but hard for me. And it isn't any fun.
Punisher5.0 #33 Posted August 2, 2018 DKC series on the SNES for the best. The worst Im not sure. Maybe DK64? I havent played too many monkey games
atarilovesyou #34 Posted August 2, 2018 I've always hated those apes in CV Tarzan, and their AI today isn't much better. My fave will always be DK...on CV, simply since it was my first. Bonus Lame-o Points goes to Amidar, a game that I'm convinced put an ape on the cover simply to ride DKs coattails...cannot stand that 'game'😆 how many kids ended uo with that lemon simply from the cover art? Andromeda Stardust #36 Posted August 2, 2018 Rampage and the ridiculous Donkey Kong 3. Donkey Kong 3 is horrific and WAY too easy. It also has nothing to do with Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong jr. If you can master the two finger flutter tap (or cheat with a turbo controller) you can master DK3 easily. I got some bad ass scores with my NES Advantage joystick, even better with this one. JBerel #37 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) Speaking of DK3, gotta mention this official offshoot... https://kotaku.com/you-can-finally-play-a-long-lost-donkey-kong-game-1823308987 Edited August 2, 2018 by JBerel
VectorGamer #38 Posted August 2, 2018 Bonus Lame-o Points goes to Amidar, a game that I'm convinced put an ape on the cover simply to ride DKs coattails... Yeah but are you talking about the 2600 or the arcade game? Cuz the arcade game is really good.
BassGuitari #40 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) (Best, obviously. ) So it's been 20 posts and nobody mentioned Secret Of The Monkey Island? Honestly...I never played it. Edited August 2, 2018 by BassGuitari
mbd30 #41 Posted August 2, 2018 I actually enjoy Bad Street Brawler where you fight some banana throwing monkeys. Guilty pleasure, maybe?
pacman000 #42 Posted August 2, 2018 "Thanks Etigro for the reminder about Rampage. Why does the industry keep propping up such a dull game? Is it that popular, or is it popular because it gets re-released all the time?" If it wasn't popular, they'd never sell through their 1st batch, so it would never be rereleased. Have we listed Jungle Hunt yet? Didn't that have monkeys?
ed1475 #43 Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) There was Monkey Academy for the Colecovision. (also for MSX and Philips VG 5000). It was a Mario Bros. like platformer where you had to solve various math problems. Edited August 2, 2018 by ed1475
+wongojack #44 Posted August 2, 2018 I am also surprised at how long it took to mention one of the games from the Monkey Island series.

Lord Innit #47 Posted August 2, 2018 Yeah but are you talking about the 2600 or the arcade game? Cuz the arcade game is really good.Agreed. Amidar is the most played game on my Jamma cab by some margin.
dj_convoy #48 Posted August 2, 2018 Rampage and the ridiculous Donkey Kong 3. Donkey Kong 3 is horrific and WAY too easy. It also has nothing to do with Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong jr.I dunno. I really like DK3! I get why others don't; it's basically watered down Galaga with a Donkey Kong coat of paint.
+frankodragon #49 Posted August 3, 2018 Wonder Boy in Monster World which isn't mentioned on that list also has irritating monkeys but why they're in the beach stages instead of the jungle stages is anyone's guess.
Spriggy #50 Posted August 3, 2018 There have got to be other Kong type games. King Kong (2600) - Actual game hasn't been mentioned yet... unless I'm fricken blind.
