haightc
So I just got an Amiga CD32 recently. I have burned a few disc but non if the one I have burned so far have worked in NTSC mode. I don't yet have a mouse to switch the system into PAL mode at boot up. I am wondering if I will run into the same issues with cdtv and those CD32 compilation disc? I have ordered a TF328 but my plan is still to use the CD32 as a games console. Can I patch some of these titles to better run in NTSC mode ? Feralstorm
Does the monitor you're using support PAL signals? Some games (not all) will switch the system to PAL on their own.
haightc
Yes it does, but for example Zool will play the opening movie but then show a menu picture saving that the title will not run on a NTSC machine. Banshee well run but the screen is stretched and I get weird graphical artifacts. When my mouse arrives I should be able to switch into PAL mode. I wonder how these compilation discs will work. I don't recall have to fuss about PAL modes back in the 500 days.
Feralstorm
The big issue is most CD-32 releases never got official NTSC versions, as legal/patent crap kept the console from a proper release in the USA, and the Amiga game market was dominated by Europe by that time anyway, pushing the hardware in ways that break when the vertical resolution and refresh rate is changed. The mouse will help in that regard. More games were converted to or written directly for NTSC systems back in the A500 days.
leonk
would the TF328 work in an NTSC console? if so, how does one convert the video output to PAL using this device? Is there an option to automatically convert to PAL mode on bootup?
haightc
I hope it'll work, my TF328 arrived a little bit ago, just waiting on the riser card!
