Fabrizio Caruso
Hi everyone, I am not able to get the arrow keys to work in Altirra when emulating an Atari 5200. I am able to do this when Altirra emulates an Atari 8-bit computer. My settings are: Input->Input Mappings -> Select "Arrow Keys -> Joystick (port 1)"Input -> Port 1 -> "Arrow Keys -> Joystick (port 1)" The very same rom works fine under Atari800Win.Is Altirra less accurate than Atari800Win?What is a good fully working emulator for the Atari 5200? mr_me
It should be mapped to a "5200 controller". One thing I notice is sometimes after I edit controller mappings I have to restart Altirra to have it work properly. I don't know which is most accurate but Altirra is the only a5200 and a800 emulator I can get trackball emulation working properly.
Fabrizio Caruso
There is no such option... in either Altirra 3.00 nor 3.10.What are the exact steps I need to follow?
mr_me
I could be wrong but I thought it was a default mapping. (using Altirra 3.0) -Input > Input Mappings -click "presets" and select "keyboard -> 5200 controller (absolute; port 1)" Edited August 22, 2018 by mr_me
Fabrizio Caruso
By default Altirra does not provide any 5200 settings.I had tried what you suggest but it does not work: it keeps on detecting the down movement. The fire button is correctly detected. It seems like a bug in both Altirra 3.0 and Altirra 3.1. Everything works fine under Atari800Win (with no complicated hidden config). Atari 800 works fine under Altirra 3.0 and Altirra 3.1My settings are: Input -> Input Maps -> Selected "Keyboard -> 5200 (absolute port 1)"Input -> Port 1 -> "Keyboard ->5200 (absolute port1)"
mr_me
I can confirm that it works on 3.0 and 2.x. (Haven't tried altirra 3.1) If you have other mappings, disable or delete them. After making changes did you close/restart altirra? You can edit the mapping to see how buttons are used. Fabrizio Caruso
Could you please try my game and tell me how to configure Altirra for it? FULL_atari5200.rom
mr_me
I tested that file in Altirra 2.81 and 3.0. Both have the problem like you describe, the character goes straight down. I also tested in mame and there the character can be controlled as expected. You'd have to test on a real atari 5200 to verify correct behaviour. You can also contact the altirra developer and ask them about it.
Fabrizio Caruso
@mr_me, the problem was in the joystick driver controller provided by the CC65 compiler. It has been fixed and now my game works fine! You can get the fixed version at:https://github.com/Fabrizio-Caruso/CROSS-CHASE/releases/download/BombDance/FULL_atari5200.rom
