Scarborough Systems' Your Personal Net Worth

Recommended Posts

I was just flipping through a September '85 issue of Family Computing when I came across this ad. Something I flipped right past 33 years ago, being a 17 year old who didn't give a damn about my net worth at the time, but this time it caught my eye, and then I became very interested when I noticed at the bottom of the picture of the box that it's for Atari 8-bits too!

Has anyone ever come across this in the wild? How about an ATR. of it on-line? I checked Atarimania, no luck, then thought I'd ask here...

I cannot find mention of it anywhere. I am assuming that this was vaporware for Atari.

Well, son of a biscuit! Looks like someone had better buy it and dump it.

I guess I beat you by about 1 second Stephen. I keep myself logged in on ebay...anyone who wants a copy will get one soon enough, I'll dump and scan and get it up on Atarimania. Of course I get the real coin, others can have a scan of it... ;) Not that it will be leaving it's spot on the box.

There's some more information here:

http://a8preservation.com/#/software/title/2784

And attached are dumps of version 1.1. Although this version has copy protection, it was reported that a later version removed it.

I see that someone couldn't leave the 50 cent piece alone on the box they have pictured over there...kind of ruins the "preservation" a bit...

We'll see if I just bought v. 1.1 or if I have a later version...

Let me know when you get a chance to copy and scan it and I will add it to the Atarimania database.

I almost bought it before I posted the link but I already got about thirty 8-bit programs in the mail to archive. It's going to be a busy Fall.

I simply took a photo of the package as I received it from eBay. If yours ends up being more pristine, I'd appreciate it if you could submit a scan of it to use on the site instead of what is up there now.

I didn't think you guys did it. I guess the original owner's net worth was zero after buying the program, so they removed the 5) cent coin to improve that. :-D

From the ebay pictures it looks like my copy still has a 50 cent coin on it, but, it also looks badly creased, so you're probably better off just gluing another 50 cent coin on the box you got and re-shooting the picture.

The coin looks like an Eisenhower dollar from 1978.

Edit: zoom

Yeah, I didn't look close, just assumed it was a 50 cent piece. A silver dollar is even better!

Late to reply, but I have a copy in my bookshelf. It was intended to be covered in an upcoming Inverse ATASCII episode.
