NovaXpress #1 Posted June 9, 2003 Apollo had a magazine offer in which they would personalize the game by flashing the owner's initials on the screen when the player was destroyed. For only one hundred dollars. Has anyone ever found one of these monogrammed games? Is there proof that anyone ever ordered one? Why didn't they do the same for Skeet Shoot? No, that game is good enough already.
surfnmadness #2 Posted June 9, 2003 I remember the offer, would be interesting to know how many where done.
Room 34 #3 Posted June 9, 2003 My guess is the number is somewhere between zero and... zero.
NovaXpress #4 Posted June 9, 2003 I wonder how many phony orders they recieved for initials like A-S-S and S-U-K and other things I used to enter for my high scores at Battlezone.
Snider-man #5 Posted June 9, 2003 First up, I think it was only two letters and they would show up when you got destroyed. Second of all, I think John Hardie actually has one, and only because he ordered it back in the day. Forget where I read that though...
NovaXpress #6 Posted June 9, 2003 It's three letters that show up. The ad is on atarihq. At least a few people had to have ordered it.
surfnmadness #7 Posted June 9, 2003 The big question though is, was the outside of the cartridge or box marked to indicate the monogramed edition? Or do all of us need to break out the our inventory and check them out.
black dog #8 Posted June 9, 2003 I guess I'll be firing up my copy of space chase tonight to check, but I have a feeling that I have a better chance of winning the lottery than having a personalized copy of the space chase.
Snider-man #9 Posted June 9, 2003 It's three letters that show up. The ad is on atarihq. Ah! I must be thinking of the Missile Command easter egg or something!
Tempest #10 Posted June 9, 2003 AFAIK only one has been found and its now owned by one of the DP guys. Tempest
Godzilla #11 Posted June 9, 2003 so does that make it 'THE RAREST' 2600 game?
Tempest #12 Posted June 9, 2003 Actually I would say so. But then again it's more like a variation of a game. Tempest

broncoman #14 Posted June 12, 2003 100 dollars back in the day with money being tight like nowadays im sure they did not get alot of orders for that
surfnmadness #15 Posted June 12, 2003 Well I do not have one, Bummer!
SteveW #16 Posted October 4, 2003 Wouldn't it have been better to put the name on an opening screen or something? Instead of just initials when you're killed? For $100, i'd expect something a little more personal.
AtariDude #17 Posted October 4, 2003 I wonder how many they ultimately sold at $100. I like the majority of the Apollo games that I have played so far (Never played Skeet Shoot so I can't comment on that one) but I don't think I would have paid $100 back in the day even if I had the money as a kid just to see my initials.
