I've never played Chakan but it has a 3.37 on Gamefaqs so it's probably decent. Bebe's Kids is legendarily awful.

Chakan for sure! I loved that game as a kid, and I still like it quite a bit as an adult even though I now know that it has some pretty serious design issues.

Now we're in the post-Souls timeline, where difficulty is actually respected again....even tho the Souls games aren't really that difficult to begin with xD.

 

But to choose between these two, I'd...probably pick Chakan. Bebe's Kids if in purgatory though.

yeah Chakan isn't anywhere near bebe's kids, plus Chakan's visuals and music might be dreary, but they aren't the hideous obnoxiousness of bebe's kids

I liked the movie Bebe's Kids back in the day. The game is not good though. Chakan is actually a good game though, so I'm surprised to see it as the subject of this thread. Difficult, yes, but put in some practice, and you'll cruise through at least the first half of the game.

 

The latter stages require some blind jumps and awkward platforming, however, which can be really frustrating. It's still a good game though, and there wasn't really anything else like it on consoles back then. Bebe's Kids was just a lousy, run of the mill licensed platformer with some beat em up mechanics thrown in.

 

Chakan is getting some unjust hate here. It's just a long game that requires a lot of patience, and some trial and error in the latter stages, to get through.

tbf Alien Soldier isn't even focused on platforming and the patience comes more from intricate boss fights. It's like a precursor to CupHead in that sense.

I've played and enjoyed Chakan. So, I'll take the game that I know over the game that I don't.

Chakan all day. It's frustrating, but not actual painful to play like Bebe's Kids.
