+orpheuswaking #1 Posted September 8, 2018 (edited) I have succesfully built 2 SDrive-MAX units using cheap UNO R3 boards from china. They both work anywhere on the SIO chain. The nice thing about those boards are the vias that make it super easy. I also have two Elegoo UNO R3 boards that don't have the vias. I have wired up to the correct connections and added the diode (a shotky 1N5819) however these units will only work directly plugged in to the Atari. plugged into anything else I get a blank screen and no boot. Any Ideas? Ignore the crappy wiring, I had removed everything and started over, just wanted to get everything wired up to test. Will be tidying it up once I get it working Edited September 8, 2018 by orpheuswaking
+DrVenkman #2 Posted September 8, 2018 Possible power issue, maybe? How are you powering the UNO - off the SIO chain or through a separate power supply or battery pack? Have you measured the forward voltage drop through the Schottky diode?
BillC #3 Posted September 8, 2018 What device are you using for the pass-through? It's possible that traces between the 2 SIO ports are broken, I know this is a common problem with XF551 drives.
+orpheuswaking #4 Posted September 10, 2018 I used a different SIO cable and rewired the entire thing. Working ok now
