Polish.Gasoline
Just curious what I could use or if I could get a replacement cord for an intellivision 1 and possibly if someone wants to help how to connect the cable? I haven't even opened it up yet to take a look. The system is out of the city at the moment but wouldn't mind some advice. Thanks.
mr_me
Are you asking about controller cables? Assuming you can't find an original part replacement, sega genesis controller extension cables can be used. Cut off the ends and reuse the old mattel connectors. Once you open your original model intellivision you will find each controller is easily detachable with a straight nine pin connector. You can even use the genesis extension cable to add external DE-9 connectors to the Intellivision. Polish.Gasoline
Thanks. I'll take a look at it when I have time and when I get the system. I could add external ports on my intellivision. That's a very good idea. My questions next is: Have you done this personally? I'm just curious on the colour coordination before I get soldering. Will I need something besides the cable to do this job besides fastening the connector somehow to the casing? I don't have a problem doing but I'm going to open it probably a month from now when I have some time. mr_me
No soldering required. I wouldn't modify the case but that's up to you. I had a bad controller wire in a sears controller that I replaced with a sega cable. Visually you can't tell the difference. In that case I only swapped the controller side connector. There's a shaky video on youtube (not mine) fixing that connector. There's some photo's of the intellivision side connector here. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/233792-original-intellivision-flashback-controller-adapters/?p=3153811 Atariage user Nurmix makes these things with brand new console side connectors. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/237113-intellivision-flashback-controller-adapters-round-2/ Edited September 13, 2018 by mr_me
