Has this happened to anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I sold a poster to some dude on Ebay and here's what he wrote me...

Sorry, i haven´t paypal.

I will the amount transfer to your bank account.

I need the bank code, bank code, name and adress of your bank.

Thanks

AXEL

I believe he's in Germany.

He has a feedback rating of +5.

Seems fishy to me

Yeah, if you give anybody your name, address, bank and bank code you're just saying, "Hey, zero my account, with relish!"

That is very normal in Germany for people to give out their bank information.

Yeah dude, but in America we're far less trusting than that, and with good reason! I bet account fraud and identity theft aren't as big of a problem in Germany. Then again, you can buy 2600 games in stores here. :D

With that information you can only move money into your account, you can't withdraw it. Besides, there is no reason for you to give out your address either way because you are the seller. ;)

Payments by direct deposit are common in Australia too. I'd say 85% or more of my auctions are paid for by direct deposit. As a seller I like it because there are no fee's to be paid and there's no need to go to a bank or post office to collect payment.
