Then change Player that has black colour (00) to mine (04) and the other Player ship 'main body' colour to mine (68). On the glass you must also now add pixels on the Player with colour(68) data so that: (04) Oring (68) = (6C) and inside wheels (to not have transparent and we'll not see backs gfxs add the the two Players pixels also gets multicolour. I found the original colors to be a better fit for the cooler tank (not the cotton candy "arcade color") Back to our business, I have neglected at the moment further improvements but I already have ready to upload the following: latest version of the flying aliens, new take on the arcade buggy (I don't like the last tries.. sorry), new version of the tank tracks and 3 big asynchronous wheels, beautifully animated ! Want to adjust that, get as close to arcade as possible, and maybe change the colors and scenery for other planets. Vehicle is shorter so when bomb is dropped just before it the vehicle will be destroyed. I see that you are using just 5200 file version so sound and music is corrupted. I am still getting colors close to the Altirra windows running on Wine you posted in the first post. The picture is a Dell 2007fp all color controls in the middle, using svideo from a NTSC 600XL with UAV. I got very similar greeninsh and blueish colors (for moon terrain and close montains) from my 65XE NTSC via SVideo. In general, I am getting colors very similar to Altirra ones. Keep up the great work. I have an 800XL and 130XE, both of which utilize the latest monitor out to composite cable for excellent image and colors on my vintage 32" CRT. It's just a missing AUDCTL command that turns 1.79MHz/16 Bit off. In the cartridge game, no SIO happens, thus no correction needed. So basically bits 3 and/or 4 of AUDCTL are being initialized counter to what the game expects. Therefore 8bit music being output as 16bit, or vice versa. Loading different OS versions might only "fix" the issue by leaving those bits set a certain way after boot up. But that would just be a happy accident. If that fails, I guess we can scan the program code area for 5 bytes where we can mask those bits to 0 (or 1), whichever it's supposed to be. This would be a nice enhancement to the improved graphic version of this game. I notice the same musical aberration playing Mario Brothers, which is another of my favorite ear-killers. As a kid I changed all the enemy bitmaps to names of my favorite bands at the time (Van Halen, Iron Maiden, etc.) to freak out my friends when playing. "Oh man, we're almost to the AC/DC stage!". It's not that complicated at all, as was stated, it is the by product of an incomplete conversion from a cartridge to disk.... some people like the music that way others don't. The game works both ways, did my earlier post not mention this and some other titles the same way... or did it not post properly? I don't remember but we did post up some that were patched or fixed... do a deep dive here on AA and you will find discussion of the particulars and possible fixed images unless the op deleted them in a I quit fit. (later changes to the forum prevented such things to happen). This is also noted on some other sites as well. It's always fun to share hacks, go for it and post those works of art, graffiti, or vandalism ! It is good in that sense. Like it, might also tinker with an older version too. Did we have any fans of this design maybe without the needle nose, or that nose lower and a bit thicker? 'Stinger' (forward gun) is a little lower to line up with forward shot, and the windshield is a line of pixels higher. Though my favorite version is still the "cricket" from version 4/5. These later designs do look closer to the arcade buggy, but frankly using the double-wide graphics it just doesn't look as good anyway. I also prefer the 2 big knobby wheels to the 3 small one/tank track style because they are too short and small. I hope once you guys finish all the changes that you will have final versions with both the "cricket" moon buggy and one as close to arcade as possible...plus arcade and regular colors. Also, why all the ATR versions with the screwed up music that hurts the ears? What happened to the .bins you guys started with? They work great! Really enjoying all these buggy variants. Dumb question but why was the mountain range color not more closely matched to the arcade? Does it bleed too much with the buggy colors? And I will second the frustration with a buggy that isn't exactly the same pixel width. The collision detection is not PM-based, but locational, and it bugs me to blow up when the bomb never touched the front. In fact, IIRC the arcade Moon Patrol is overly generous in that regard, requiring a fully direct hit before registering a collision. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
