Atari Age Votes: Best shooting game on the 2600! (Ranking)

Recommended Posts

Hello Atari Age, This thread is about voting for the best shooting games of any sub-genre for the Atari 2600. Original titles as well as homebrews can be included.

I ask you to make a top 5 so that I can tally them in the results at the bottom of this opening post. I'll be updating the results frequently, if I forgot to include anything feel free to give me a holler. One vote only of course.

This will be a single round poll, so I'll be including every game mentioned in the results. The games that have the most votes will be at the top of the list. This poll will run around 3 weeks to give everyone time to join in.

Not only will this help us determine the best shooting games for the 2600, decided by the Atari Age community of course, it will also be a great way to find hidden gems as well!

The point system works as follows:

5 points for your first choice

4 points for your 2nd choice

3 points for your 3rd choice

2 points for your 4th choice

1 point for your 5th choice

This could be interesting, considering the majority of games for 2600 are some sort of shooters. Anyhow, here's my top 5 in rotation.

1 Skeleton (+)I

2 outlaw

3 river raid

4 Atlantis

5 asteroid

It's so hard make these list, cause there is the games I loved in my childhood and the others I liked more as an adult. I'll try to equalize as this:

1-River Raid

2-Megamania

3-Worm War I

4-Demon Attack

5-Phoenix

Feel bad for leave Space Invaders out, great feelings towards him in the 80s.

Oh geez, "shooting" is such a broad category but I'll give it my best...

1. Millipede

2. River Raid 3 (Hack by Nukey Shay)

3. Lead (Homebrew)

4. GORF

5. Space Rocks (Homebrew)

Edit: I just noticed homebrews were included and had to modify my list. :)
