First of anybody have a book like this?

Recommended Posts

I would hope the answer is yes.

"Repairing your home video game" Copyright 1984 DATAMOST Inc.

This book I picked up a few years ago. I figured it would come in handy if I needed to repair my 2600 woody system. The Atari 2600, 5200, and Intellivision is covered pretty well. The of the systems listed is basic trouble shooting.

Covers the following system:

Atari CX-2600

Atari CX-2600A

Sears Tele games

Sears Video Arcade

Matel Intellivision I

Tandy Vision (Can somebody fill me in on this machine?)

Sears Super Video Arcade

Atari 5200 (Seperate Chapter for this)

The book starts out explaining what tools is needed. Followed by an understanding of basic eletricity (Switches and Volage). Then it covers simple trouble shooting like RF adaptor (Swap and replace). It moves on to cover specific problems like a b/w picture for the Atari 2600.

Laters,

Josh

I also had to do a little decoding to figure out that subject line, but no big. I would love to have that book - I love poking around inside the old systems to fix 'em... though I guess I'd love it more if they just worked in the first place! :)

I was thinking of scanning the important pages. Most of the book is nothing compaired to what we know now. More people ever pickup a soldering gun and are not afraid to fix something. Tear into it or whatever. So I really don't need to include thinks like, if you have a bad rf unit. You can try it with another one. It did give a note on how to check it with a volt meter though.

Later,

Josh

As for the tittle. I tried to think of something that would fit. The space is only limited to so much in the subject. I need to try to refine it to fit more information.
