bfollowell
I do not have my ST handy at the moment and I'm hoping someone here may be able to save me a trip. Which floppy drive is most likely used in a typical Atari 1040STF? The single-sided 360K drive or the double-sided 720K drive? Thanks. tjlazer
100% 720k. Early STf ones had large slanted eject buttons
bfollowell
100% 720k. Early STf ones had large slanted eject buttons Thanks. I think mine has the large slanted button, but I'm not 100% certain. If I recall correctly though, I believe it was having issues and I was going to look into replacing the drive. That large button was going to cause me issues though, because, while I want to restore the computer and get everything running well, I refuse to modify the case like many of the newer drives require. I may have to get creative. I've ordered an LCD monitor that will let me use all three resolutions and, since my desk has a keyboard tray, I have plenty of space on my desk for the ST and the monitor. I can't wait to get this baby out of the attic and onto my desk!
oky2000
Atari described it as 1mb memory and 1mb disk drive (unformatted) to all who cared to cover the launch in early 1986, along with a nice sepia toned picture of the Mona Lisa for some reason. Was quite a thing back then just as 64k for the C64 was in 1982, I guess he hoped for the same effect.
