Cynicaster #76 Posted October 25, 2018 I had actually forgotten how solid SF2 was for the SNES, wow. I've never been much of a 1-on-1 fighting game guy, but I did play a lot of that port on my buddy's SNES.
blainelocklair #77 Posted October 25, 2018 The SNES version was superior if for no other reason than you could throw the controllers when someone beat you. You couldn't throw the arcade game, although I did see some people get thrown out for punching the cabinet.
Tanooki #78 Posted October 26, 2018 Aside from the little bit larger visuals and being a little crisper I still felt that SNES SF2 looked, sounded, and played better than the arcade. I played the two side by side, got it at home to train to take down people in the arcade and it worked like a charm. Back then I dropped the AI on 7(max) on almost every character in the game except two which I stopped around 5 or 6 on as I just didn't care. I did much the same on MK1 but didn't quite apply myself as much, plus it being Immortal Kombat on SNES was a little bit of a pisser on some moves, not so much on others. Punisher5.0 #79 Posted October 26, 2018 The custom Sony sound chip on the SNES had distinctly different sounds than the Yamaha based CPS-1's. The SNES version had a bit more bass and some of the music voices were that trademark SNES sound. Here's a great video comparing them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKOd6SVmnb4 The arcade version had slightly crisper graphics. These days you can play the game with original arcade music if you have a SD2SNES. Its an interesting experience
