+Rick Reynolds
Ok everybody. Weve had our fun in Portland, now its time to get ready for Extra Life Day! Ill be doing the Extra Life Day marathon again this year on November 3rd. I plan to start at 8:00am EDT and going 25 (!) hours through to 8:00am EST on November 4th. Notice the change of time zone info. Yep, this runs over the time change weekend (again!). So it ends up being 25 hours. The proceeds for the fund raiser go to Childrens Hospitals. My campaign is for Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh. Ill be live-streaming the event. The settings I used last year seemed to work well, so I have a bit of confidence that it should work again this year. I have a few more consoles than last year, and I have a newly refurbed basement to show off! Ill definitely be playing lots of Intellivision games, with a bit of an emphasis on homebrews. But I have a good number of pre-1985 consoles to work through. You can see a list on the front page of my website: http://www.rickandviv.net. That page will also link to the live stream on the Extra Life Day. I plan to have a monitor open showing any comments that folks make, so it can be semi-interactive. The front page on my website also has the link to use to donate to my campaign. Id really appreciate it if you would donate if youre able! Feel free to post ideas for games that I should play in this thread. Obviously, Ill listen more closely to people who actually donate... *ahem* Thanks everyone!

I'll be quite happy to donate a big(ish) chunk of change if you play Christmas Carol for a big(ish) chunk of that time. PM me to arrange this if you're interested. I'm very serious. -dZ. +DZ-Jay
P.S. The link on your web page to the fundraiser is b0rken. Actually, the second link in the page. The first one works. Edited October 27, 2018 by DZ-Jay
CharonPDX
Good luck on your play, Rick! I'll be doing Desert Bus! (And, dZ, if you want to donate to mine, I will play Christmas Carol in addition to Desert Bus, although I only have the free demo ROM of CC.) +Rick Reynolds
P.S. The link on your web page to the fundraiser is b0rken. Actually, the second link in the page. The first one works. Fixed. Thanks - they changed my ID (I think?) after it being the same for a number of years. I had changed the top link, but didn't look further down.
+DZ-Jay
Good luck on your play, Rick! I'll be doing Desert Bus! (And, dZ, if you want to donate to mine, I will play Christmas Carol in addition to Desert Bus, although I only have the free demo ROM of CC.) Unfortunately, I don't have a cartridge to offer you (I would gladly do so if I did). If you have an LTO Flash! I could give you also a "branded" Christmas Carol version for the challenge (although it wouldn't be as fancy and customized like your special Desert Bus). Send me a PM and we can work something out. -dZ.
+Rick Reynolds
Ok folks, DZ has put up a challenge for me on my gaming day. He’s going to donate $50/hour (up to 5 hours) for me to play Christmas Carol continuously. If I can hit the 5 hour mark, he’s pledged to throw in something extra (I’ll let him decide on that). I’ll probably plan the Carol marathon pretty early in the 25 hour day - maybe start it around 9:00am EDT or so. So tune in and cheer me on this Saturday! And while you’re at it, why not throw in a few bucks towards the charity fund raiser effort? Big thanks to DZ-Jay for stepping up and putting this challenge to me to raise more money! +DZ-Jay
Rick completed 5 hours of non-stop(ish) Christmas Carol play!!! Congratulations to Rick for pushing himself so hard for such a great cause. The children of the world thank you for saving Christmas from the Evil Snowman 5 times!!! Thank you for doing this, Rick. I encourage everyone to donate to Rick and CharonPDX, who are playing an assortment of Intellivision games in a 24 hour marathon for the benefit of Children's Hospitals. -dZ.
SiLic0ne t0aD
What kind of controller were you using? Is it Grips03's DIY Inty controller PCB in a custom case? That thing is a beast, whatever it is!

+Rick Reynolds
Wow, I'm not so good at following forums and such... Thanks to everyone who donated and/or tuned in to the feed on Saturday. It was a good deal of fun (and exhaustion) and was a pretty successful day! If you were wanting to donate to the campaign but didn't get it in on time - no worries! You can donate to my campaign ANYTIME during the calendar year in which I sign up. So you can still chip in a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation between now and 12/31 (... tax claims are made by a woefully uninformed person - your results may vary...). By the end of the gaming day event, my campaign was a bit over $800 - which is great! I'd love to see that number hit $1000...
+intvsteve
Also: Many places of work offer company match opportunities for donations like this. If you're at such a place, take advantage of this and double your goodness! <scurrying off to instigate the company match process/>
