Space Invaders power supply rebuild, A14 diode replacement

I'm in the process of rebuilding a Space Invaders power supply and there are four diodes underneath the connector socket that are just labeled A14 on the schematic. I'd read that these should be replaced with 1N5404 diodes, but I got hold of some NTE5804's(equivalent, Fry's only carries NTE ones) and the issue is that the leads are too thick for the holes. Obviously I could drill them out, but I wanted to see if anyone had used a different diode that would fit without modification.
