leech #1 Posted November 24, 2018 So I'm looking for something that will allow me to take some text, maybe do some rotation, and some cycling color bars. I kind of looked for a little while, and the most I could see would be something I'd have to basically learn how to code to do. Thanks for any ideas. adam242 #2 Posted November 24, 2018 I've never played around with it myself, but Virtuoso might be what you're looking for.
Gunstar #3 Posted November 24, 2018 Virtuoso and Movie Maker if this is for animated "productions" and not for programming. Virtuoso is much more advanced, both are cool and fun but pretty sophisticated though. But it sounds like he might be looking for something a little more simple like Colourspace. leech #4 Posted November 24, 2018 Sweet, thanks for the suggestions. Looks like Virtuoso also supports the Atari Touch Tblet which I also just got.
leech #5 Posted December 6, 2018 Well that was... not fun. Finally get some time to test out Virtuoso. Couldn't get it to get past the loading screen, though it did give me a blue flickering screen as I plugged in the touch tablet while it was loading (hope that didn't fry it). Since I couldn't get that to work, I tried Atari Artist, plugged it into my fully upgraded 130XE and I couldn't even get it to load, not sure what magic is required for that... So I hooked up the 800XL and it started the program up fine, but then it didn't want to draw anything, the buttons on the touch tablet all worked (the one on the stylus and the two on the tablet) but the tablet itself wouldn't accept input from the pen. It also said it should work with the finger and it didn't work with that either. Any ideas?
_The Doctor__ #6 Posted December 6, 2018 bad tablet?
leech #7 Posted December 6, 2018 That's my guess, question is, any fixes for a bad tablet? Not sure what's going on with Virtuoso.
_The Doctor__ #8 Posted December 6, 2018 You would have to open it up and see what's dead and how. The fix is the same as ever, visually inspecting and looking for dead components, overheated, bulged, etc. after that it's meter time, I would use a power source other than the Atari until it gets sorted. leech #9 Posted December 6, 2018 I hooked it up via a raphnet DB9 -> USB adapter to Linux last night, looks like two of the input pins are 'locked' down. Guessing that's probably the tablet input. Interestingly the two buttons on the side act as separate buttons and the stylus button and the left button seemed to be the same. ha, I was hoping someone else had taken one apart and fixed a similar issue. Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight!
leech #10 Posted December 6, 2018 Took it apart. Ribbon cable looks pretty dirty. Ordered some deOxit to clean it off. It otherwise looks good, though smells a bit musty, like someone kept it in a storage unit too long. There is a 10 pin connector for the ribbon, with the ribbon only having 6 lines, two of the pins on the connector is lifted, and when I pulled it out it had been shifted all the way to the left, so I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the inside of one that works so I can make sure it's on the right pins?
