Intellivision ECS BASIC Games/Programming

Recommended Posts

I've been using my Intellivision ECS computer a lot lately and have made a video that covers a little BASIC and some games.

The BASIC uses color coding and can "grab" sprites from cartridges for use in BASIC programs.

Games (start at 2:02 in the video)

Bomb Run I - (uses AD&D Cloudy Mountain cart)
Bomb Run II - (Triple Action cart)
Alien Invasion I - (Night Stalker cart)
Alien Invasion II - (World Cup Soccer cart)
Warrior of the Cross - (Tron Maz-a-Trom cart)
Inty Road Race - (can use any cart)
Simon Sez - (can use any cart)

Cool! Would you be sharing the source code to those simple games you made in your video?

Ah! Those games! Wow! My memory must be going. No wonder they looked a bit familiar. I entered those several years ago. Thanks!

On the other hand. Maybe he is one of the original programmers from back then. :)

Nice to see the ECS getting some love still. Very cool.

The ECS is getting lots of love if you use the jzIntv emulator. Intvnut has added support to be able to save and load to "cassette" from the emulator. I am going to post several ECS Basic programs that have been saved to a file for you to be able to load. Check out his post at:

The saved ECS files will be in there.

Awesome! I will most certainly check them out. I have a hardware ECS and synthesizer with my Inty, but no cassette recorder with it. I mostly got the ECS so I could use the synth. It'll be part of some music I'm writing on the Mac by bringing in some sounds from the AY-3-8917 in the ECS through analog input. I also have an LTO Flash, so I am able to use the ECS cart ROMs. The Melody Blaster with the synth is very cool.
