Horizon Shift '81 - Nintendo eShop

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to let you know my new switch SHMUP, Horizon Shift '81 was just launched on the Switch eShop.
It's basically a mix of all my favorite 80's arcade games squashed into one, to make something that hopefully feels a bit fresh.
Here's the trailer:

It's been reviewing surprisingly well so far too.
Defunct just reviewed it and had this to say "This is one of the best shoot 'em ups available on the Nintendo Switch"!

Here's his video review:
I also knocked up an Atari 2600 version of Horizon Shift, you can grab the off my website www.flumpstudios.co.uk

Wow that looks like you did a pretty good job there on that. It looks it like it would be fun to try out, does it have any demo like some stuff does on Switch?

Thanks man :)

No it doesn't actually, that's a good call though. I might see if I can get one uploaded.

Didn't even think about it TBH.

Hey, thanks for including a CRT style look to it so it's not just another pixel art game...little touches like that really make a retro game feel more authentic.

Wow! Nice work. Thanks for supporting Tate mode. I love having that as an option

Thank you :)

Yeah, it would be crazy not to include it. The Switch is so perfect for Tate shmups.

Especially with the flipgrip coming out!

Ha ha no problem :)

I've been obsessed with 80's Arcade games forever, so had to include CRT.

I love your game and look forward to anything new/retro you will make for the switch. Is it possible in an update to add initials to the high score? Maybe a local top ten? Am I crazy to ask if it's possible for an online leaderboard?

Yeah, I'm looking to add online leaderboards. We didn't have them for launch because we informed Nintendo too late so they didn't have time to setup the servers :(

Finally had a few minutes to spend with this game last night.

I LOVE IT.

The gameplay is fun, it looks great, and the music is pretty damn good as well. It takes elements from a lot of early arcade shooters and mashes them all together in a fun package. Highly recommended!

Yep. Really fun game. Feels quite Jeff Minter-esque in some ways... though not quite enough barnyard animals for it to be truly authentic! Great fun, though, and the soundtrack is a banger.
