I've pondered that since there's been so many 3D printed items "out there" for a while now, how come there's been no 3D printed joystick boxes for joystick hardware and buttons that you can buy online? With a 3D printed joystick box you could easily have either a right or stick, bl

because it's cheaper to use a hobby box or acrylic or laser cut wood..

 

I suppose, but even if I am cheap (thrifty) by nature, when it comes to my hobby (the TI), saving a few pennies has never been the priority for me. I prefer a cooler look over boiler plate appearances.

My problem with 3D printing (at least all of the 3D stuff I've actually owned), is that they tend to "creak" and bend quite easily. Even when printed with thicker walls.

 

I like the idea of custom laser cut wood...wished I knew of a place to have that done (or could afford to buy my own laser).

I use these guys to cut my "cases" for the joystick adapters. Basically I sent them gerbers of the pcboard dimensions and holes and they cut with a laser.. works great one off or many sheets and different materials
