8bitguy1 #1 Posted January 22, 2019 or any good RTS suggestions? Just looking to try something new. I've been scanning Atarimania but always better to get a referral.
rpiguy9907 #2 Posted January 24, 2019 Real time strategy? Warlords is turn-based. Sorcerer Lord was a fun turn-based strategy game for the ST.

8bitguy1 #4 Posted January 25, 2019 Real time strategy? Warlords is turn-based. Sorcerer Lord was a fun turn-based strategy game for the ST. Poor wording on my part I didn't mean to equate the two, more of an either/or. Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out, as well as Lost Dragon's suggestions.
rpiguy9907 #5 Posted January 25, 2019 Poor wording on my part I didn't mean to equate the two, more of an either/or. Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out, as well as Lost Dragon's suggestions. No problem. Lords of Conquest and Empire also come to mind, though they are a little more complex.
Lost Dragon #6 Posted January 25, 2019 Xcom began life as Laser Squad II. Hope you find Laser Squad and Lords Of Chaos to your liking.

Lost Dragon #8 Posted January 25, 2019 Warlords is turn-based? Are we talking about the original VCS game, also arcade? I think he means this one: https://www.innogames.com/games/warlords-of-aternum/

Major Havoc 2049 #11 Posted January 26, 2019 The only RTS that I can think of on the ST is the castle building RTS, Castles. It is a cool game where you design, gather resources and money, build and defend a castle. It has a fairly deep campaign mode as well. Some other cool turn based strategy games with some action elements in them: Dragon's Breath/Dragon Lord Steel Empire/Cyber Empires Defender of the Crown
youxia #12 Posted January 26, 2019 Warlords was quite popular on Amiga at the time, though personally I could never get into it...it all seemed a bit dry. I might give it a go again one of these days. Laser Squad is in my all-time Top 5 but it's about micromanaging soldiers on individual level. Warlords is more of a grand-strategy precursor.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out, as well as Lost Dragon's suggestions. If you want something like real time RPG, I assume you already played Dungeon Master, didn't you? Otherwise go run, and play it right now!

8bitguy1 #16 Posted February 2, 2019 I've played a lot of Dungeon Master. Thanks for all the suggestions, looking forward to trying them out. I loved Warlords on the Amiga and Warlords 2 on the PC. (that was my fav of the series, still fire it up in Dosbox from time to time).
