Omega-TI
Yeah.... they're so ridiculous. Seriously though, what could one really do with it? Stick it in a display cabinet maybe, as a reminder of how much money they flushed...
Opry99er
It's a really unique computer. FORTH in ROM instead of BASIC.
AwkwardPotato
Always thought these were pretty neat. Shame they're so expensive Seriously though, what could one really do with it? Stick it in a display cabinet maybe, as a reminder of how much money they flushed... Couldn't the same be said for the TI too? Granted, a stock TI isn't going to cost you very much, but after you invest all the money into a PEB, cards, cartridges, etc. a TI still isn't going to be particularly useful in this day and age. +Vorticon
I've been wanting one for a while. The price is actually not bad given the condition. Problem is I'm probably not going to have the time to play with it given my current projects backlog. I'd rather spend the money on Fabrice's TI(ny) computer which on the other hand will definitely see good use

I dunno about that. My TI gets me online for multiple social activities. For practical purposes I have my schedule on it, use it to take notes, run small spreadsheets. From an entertainment aspect it has more good games than I have time to use. In short my TI get used. For the astronomical price of just that Jupiter ACE you could trick out a TI pretty well with all the latest bells and whistles. I may have missed something, as I was unaware that the Jupiter had as many goodies as our TI does to make it useful.

It appeals to me enough to consider $600 for a display model (by that I mean one that I display in public). It's got a story. However, despite owning all the hardware to run the retro FPGA Jupiter Ace with video, I have not played with it yet. Too little time. I have spent $600 on items for two TI-99/4 systems, twice. Somebody out there loves Jupiter Ace that much.
+FarmerPotato
I'm considering this TI Silent 700, a 1970s data terminal with Thermal Printer. It's a bit of a trek for me, but not too far past where the boys go to horse lessons. https://austin.craigslist.org/ele/d/elgin-vintage-texas-instruments-silent/6794316675.html Edited January 24, 2019 by FarmerPotato

Used it all the time. Man the paper that I would waste! LOL! Edited January 24, 2019 by twoodland
