News for the taco guys

I initially thought that weird AtariVCS Reddit thread where Atari asked for questions then gave a bunch of non-answers was humble-bragging--that "all but a couple of editors raved about the VCS" (paraphrased).

But now I'm wondering if they're just seeing how far they can troll people.  Throw out the fishing line and see what bites! They got away with it at E3 by hiding a PC as a monitor stand and claiming there was a working prototype, so why not push it?

I suppose it could be both.

But at least they gave a response to each of Dubs' questions, like he suggested.  It may have been a bunch of mealy-mouth "unanswers", but they were still words!

When Bif first posted and said he contacted Atari and said they didn't respond (long time ago)- I emailed then COO Todd and said~ Hey this guy is looking to make a game for you guys, why don't you get back to him.

His answer was simple and made sense- the game (at that time, might have changed since) is a blatant rip off of Pitfall, they can't take that risk, and also apparently from the emails they had received from Bif (multiple)- they simply didn't want anything to do with him or his behavior.

I still can't believe they pulled an actual console out they arse and set a release date on Gamestop and elsewhere. Remains to bee seen if they deliver.

They still owe me a joystik... ?????

I think they will release something eventually. But it will be a joke.

Sorry, but please bear in mind that Atari and its partners are constrained by mutually-agreed approval processes and other restrictions that may be legal, self-imposed, regulatory and/or some combination of these. Details about the product(s) and strategies of both Atari and its partners can and will be shared only when all stakeholders agree.

Exactly...

I'd venture to say, that is simply because there is no news.  But hey, it's only been two years and they only had $3,000,000 to get a raspberry pi like device in a case.  Cut them some slack.

oh Christ not again.  this device is nothing like a raspberry pi...

You're right.  Let's list the reasons why:
1 - Raspberry Pis already exist
2 - Raspberry Pis can handle 4k
3 - Raspberry Pis can be bought for $25 or $35

Should we continue?

I know you think you are being clever or funny- but you are just saying the same thing the other hive mind says.

Yes- 110% Atari is a cluster fuck of horrible management.  They undeniably are throwing shit at a wall in every direction, in fact- every wall they can, up down and siedeways- on countless projects and hoping something sticks.  There are many many companies that do that- even the big name FANG guys.  All of them have failed projects, ignored customers and complaints, and make choices in their own best interests for the all mighty bottom line and their own wallets.

All that being said- the proposed new VCS on paper is still way beyond a Pi in countless ways and everyone knows that.

Knock the company, knock the vaporware- but if it releases it certainly is nothing like a Pi and that is already evident.

So- stop being intentionally obtuse.

After all the fakes - screenshots, renders, showing games not being played on the system, faking Tempest 4000, suing Llamasoft and then going back to kiss ass and ask for a game,  2 years of saying they showed at E3 while they were just renting as hotel room miles away, etc, coupled with the fact they have taken 3 million dollars and are unaccountable for anything, I will certainly not give those ass clowns one bit of support.

BTW - how's that penny stock doing?  Made any money yet?

" I will certainly not give those ass clowns one bit of support. "

And nobody said you had to.  My response was simply that what they have show, on paper is nothing like a Pi.

Additionally- several media outlets have stated that they played a real *working* VCS, with real working controller.  No longer a block of plastic.

Why Atari wouldn't let them film and show that is unknown- but some of the people who were there are reputable- so if they say the system exists and works, I don't doubt them.

And for your last lame attempted jab- (and apparent lack of how stock trades work)- it does not matter that the price of a share is pennies- it is the % gain before selling that makes the money.  Many many thousands can be made on a few cent increase when dealing in volume.  Rinse & repeat.

.

Their "working VCS" looks suspiciously like a PC.  From CNET's video:

I'm getting the idea reporters don't go to these things to do investigative reporting.

I think most of us know how the market works.

If you bought Atari in the past 5 years, it's been more or less flat. If you bought a year ago, you're in the hole. Big.

Now, might it shoot up to a full Euro or more after the VCS releases? Sure, stranger things have happened. But unless you bought immediately post-bankruptcy and sold early last year when it was briefly trading in the .65 Euro range, it doesn't much matter how many thousand shares are in your portfolio...Atari SA has been a shit performer.

-I was wrong. I bet on the wrong horse. I really was hoping for several new projects from Atari to do well. Rose colored glasses, believed the good news and ignored the warnings. Im sure you guys will be happy to hear Ive paid dearly and lost a ton.

I know right. It's like when you're down at the roulette table, ya have to keep doubling your bet until you're up again. Just keep putting the house payment on red until you win, then go back to regular betting. Rinse and repeat.

Same for Atari stock. At their current price, you only need about a 100% gain on 25 thousand shares to make $10,000. And it's not like it's hard to unload 25 thousand shares of their stock. People are dying to buy that stuff, so you can definitely unload it while you're up and before the price falls again. Nobody would notice thousands of shares being sold when their trading volume is near nothing.  And, just like at the casino, there's zero risk. It's not like they can dilute the stock price or devalue the stock through any kind of company action. It's not like a reverse stock split or something that cuts the value in half makes a difference. Having thousands upon thousands of shares of stocks worth a few cents each is a surefire way to diversify your risk. This is penny stock after all. If you own enough of it, it's all up side. Take it from me. I'm a stock expert. You should buy as much as you can possibly afford. Now I'm off to stick my tongue in a plugged in light socket. That's the best way to clean them.

Remember, 2 out of 3 self professed stock experts who provide unsolicited stock advice on the internet are complete idiots. If you look to the person on your left and right, and they're both idiots, it doesn't matter, you're definitely an idiot too.
