kh_atari
I purchased one of these packs for my son last month, and have noticed some strange behaviour with the second controller. I was wondering if there might be a firmware upgrade available? When playing Space Invaders, and trying to use the second controller as Player 2, if you direct the joystick left the game quits without warning. On the other hand pushing the joystick right moves the game piece to the right as you would expect. I assumed this was a hardware fault and returned the system to the shop and picked up a new replacement. Alas, same problem! Can anyone else replicate this? Is there a solution? Thanks. boggis the cat
It’s a known bug. You might want to look at updating to the firmware that allows you to load games from the SD Card, then put a copy of the original Atari 2600 Space Invaders on that. (The built-in one is a custom version.)
kh_atari
Thanks for the information. Will the new firmware leave all existing games on the console? And where can I locate the new firmware and the original Atari 2600 Space Invaders game?
Atariboy
Yes, it will leave all existing games on the console. It just adds a SD card option in the menu where your additional games will be located that you placed on your SD card. -Firmware Information (Instructions, download file, etc.) -Space Invaders rom file AtariAge hosted rom packages: A through E F through J K through P Q through S T through Z Edited January 30, 2019 by Atariboy
Ida
Thanks! It's April 2020 and I am having the same issue with the Player 2 stick cutting back to menu when pushed to the left! I will try the suggested solution but you'd think they might have fixed it by now!!! Cheers, IH
boggis the cat
The newest ‘official’ firmware fixes this bug. Try installing it.
