Ridge Racer Type 4 Intro

The R4 intro was good but it still has that kind of goofy awkwardness that most video game FMV still had at that time (since most of the people making it had no real training or experience in filmmaking).

The RRV intro is shorter, but I remember being kind of blown away by it, and I still think it looks pretty good even by modern standards (if you can get past the jaggies):

It also uses a real Japanese band for the music.

Im in total agreement while it was the dawn of it, you seemed to have two grades of FMV intro on games. Amateur hour obvious minimalist garbage, and then you get the more closer to film maker wannabe quality action and set pieces. R4 I own that one still and that opening I can re watch whenever I pop that one in again. I think Castlevania and Tomba had them too. The Medal of Honor games had stunning videos using an audio overlay of Amazons music and vocals set against mostly old WW2 reel footage to really set the tone. The FF and CT SNES remakes those got some really nice clips too using Amani art among other odd CGI stuff that worked too.
