It would most likely be a long shot, but this is a GREAT 10 player game that would fit right in on the Amico.

My son and I played this a lot at the last Houston Arcade and Pinball expo. It is indeed a great fun 2D multiplayer game. I was trying to remember the name of this to suggest it here. Glad someone did!

Ha, I was pretty surprised when you mentioned Fall Guys coming to the Switch since Sony bought the devs! Among Us is already out on the Switch, it came out yesterday, and supports local co-op as well as online play, so could work on the Amico...

Who knows, maybe someone could make a game like Among Us that would be a better fit for the Amico, if need be.

Fall Guys developers got bought out? This is the first I've heard about that.

I do know (or at least, am pretty sure) that they have a timed exclusivity deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The perfect example why intellivision Amico will be great. People are sick of games being unfinished (Cyberpunk 2077) and glitches out. Amico won't have that all the games will be finished from day one. Another thing is the graphics aren't the beSt. Well with Amico the graphics don't matter. Most of the games will be in a cartoon fashion and will look grate as of that. So no one will judge the game for graphic as they do now with Ps5 and Series X. So all and all the Amico will be great for this reason. It will have good games on day one and they will all be finished. People just need to learn to have fun again!!

I agreed with the majority of what he said in the video.  Main takeaway is if the system is not for you, no need to throw a lot of shade of it.  Be nice and just move on to what floats your boat.  However, there are some things he said that I do disagree with, still he is excited about the Amico and that is alright.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

How about a winter themed game?  It would involve snow men.  In the game you are in a maze.  You begin at the bottom of the screen and work your way up to the top where your house is.  The goal is to reach the house but along the way are evil snow men that are trying to stop you.  Luckily you have a flamethrower.  Blast the evil snow men and watch them melt away.  Lol.

Also, the enemy can launch snow balls and icicles at you.  If a snow ball hits you, you'll lose some health.  If an icicle hits your weapon it'll freeze it temporarily.

Tommy, I was wondering if you can give us some update about Asteroids.

Did you ask the developer to priorize another game ?

Did Atari is not letting you have the game after all ?

Etc.

Thank you.

You haven't even played the Amico yet, how do you know there won't be bugs?

Reason #1) Because they hate.  If something's isn't your bag of tea, move on to something that is.

TBH I think the problem there are a lot more people who are ambivalent to the Amico or haven't heard of it than there are people who, "hate," it.

Hi all,

I thought the Atari VCS launch would be better. After watching Twinblasters initial review. I won't lie. I am a bit disappointed. But it looks like with a little love, it may turn into a nice little console. I think I'm more interested in the classic controller. Glad to know that the VCS volume 2 hiccup issue has been taken care of.

His double charge got me thinking about the actual transactions and the Amico experience.   I can see myself purchasing most of the physical media, but for the digital ones, will I be able to purchase  Amico "gift cards" down at my local Gamestop/Walmart?  If so, do you plan on making them stand out? Not just a rectangle.  A cool shape or feature. RFID may be cost prohibitive for them. If you haven't seen the new Apple gift cards, they are not your average gift card.  Instead of your standard plastic card, you get the unique ID (I think on a piece of paper inside the new packaging) and an Apple sticker. Multiple designs have been made, so multiple Apple stickers.  For the collector.. Another hunt! Especially if you different designs for different stores.

If not right away, by Christmas. So my family knows what to get me :)

Anyone else think Amico Gift Cards would be cool?

He didn't say there won't be bugs.  There are bugs, major bugs, and fatal bugs.  Unfortunately, the industry has accepted that products go to manufacturing with major and sometimes fatal bugs that hopefully get fixed around fcs.  The expectation with Amico games is that any bugs will be minor,

So what about Super Sprint from Atari, make it 8 players and bigger tracks to accommodate the wider screens we have today

Have a look at Amico Nitro Derby

First Atari VCS review.  Thought some folks here may be interested in checking it out.

Let me be a little blunt, as you know I am lol... he and the rest of Clan VCS certainly got hosed.

His review was on par and had a lot of sarcastic undertone to it but for very good reason.  Like he says in the end... I'm still believing that something good will come out of this.  I can certainly appreciate he optimism, but coming from a game development background, it's hard as hell to flip the opinion of the public once it's so sour.  Doesn't matter how many good faith patches you put out, the opinion will be that you took too long, you pushed the incomplete product to meet an unachievable deadline... and on top if it, your efforts will be micro-analyzed to a fault because of it.  The PDF he mentions seems like a huge band-aid to an admitted back product release.

Epic fail on Atari's side.  It's a shame really, as looking at the unit, it's nice, has a nice retro look to the base unit and controllers.  Overall, it seems like it would have been a hit... but I can see his disappointment and agree that it has too many issues out of the box to warrant paying $300.  The game he does show (Asteriods, Basketball) look no better than my Retropie unit with similar scanline shaders and side overlays to compensate for the 4:3 aspect ratio of a standard 80's CRT.  The spin graphics looks nice in the Arcade menu, would have been good to see more of that... but noting he only really has 1 package to play with I'm guessing he couldn't be bothered.

Thanks for posting this... and I know it's only 1 review (seems he's the only one to get the unit as of making it), but my dream of stacking the Atari (VCS) and Intellivision (Amico) together once again like they were back in 1982 seems like it's going to have to wait for a while.

What about Thunderbirds on Amico?  This is a board game but there were also video games made on several consoles too.

We stayed away from manuals as it kinda goes against our SIMPLE concept and all the physical games are digital as well.  There is also a cost associated with it and we wanted to keep our physical media under $20 if possible.

But don't worry... there will be some cool things in there.  Can't wait to share what we're doing.  I showed @OEB_Pete and a few of the other guys on Amico All Access (after we finished the show) and they were very excited about what they saw and what we're doing.  They all said it was more than they were expecting.

:)

I just spilled the beans.... lol.... oh snap I said beans... now I am done for!

I've been playing this game series since it first appeared in Japan as part of the Simple 2000 series.

Today, the Earth Defense Force is going as strong as ever.

It is, in my humble opinion, the most FUN game I've ever played on consoles.  It is the perfect couch co-op game, and in general is one of the best pick up and play games there is.  I still play EDF 4 and 5 today, and 6 is coming out late in 2021.

EDF Amico would be welcome  :)

What was unachievable about the deadline? Maybe I don't know all the details, but it seems like they were making a Linux box with off the shelf parts tucked into a case that looked like an old Atari 2600. If they put as much effort into their product as they did their website (which I think is very slick), then it seems like it should have been very achievable.
