Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

So I missed it AGAIN. Yay, time zones~

Interesting with the buttons. Looking forward to seeing what they look like. I (and I think a few others in the other thread) figured that it might be some sort of jacket for the controller like the one that the Wii had, although that was mainly to prevent you from losing your grip or killing your friends by smashing them in the face with the controller by accident.

If I heard it right He said the addon buttons will come with the console.

Hi Tommy. Great Interview yestersday. ( I listened hour 0 to 1, and hour 2 to 4. Will get the other hour later today. )

About physical buttons, how many of them will be pack-in ? Will it be up to 4 players ? Only for the 2 controllers included ?

Do you have an idea when you will be revealing image or gameplay with it ?

Thank you.

Very interesting interview.  A lot of information about the controllers.  A lot of questions asked by Rich and the people in the chat.  Some stuff that can't be answered due to patent stuff, understandably.  I really like the story how Tommy got his start at Virgin.  When I see that logo, I know the game will have a lot of animation frames.

I watched the latest Pat and Ian podcast up on Youtube about the Amico.  They still talk about the market share, asked who's the investors are, shark tank thingy, and etc.  I think Tommy has everything figured out and got passed all that. I don't think Tommy can stop now.  I think right now, they have to manufacturer the products.  From RxScram's post, they are getting ready to produce. Also, they have to work on completing the games.  Once those two hurdles are pass, then they have a product ready for launch.

After years how's the Amico going to hold up?

The replayability of the games is key. With simple games how much replayability will there be? Unless there's grate games with new things to offer. New ideas but old concepts.like space shooters with like more levels more variety of new power up or something. Something fun for everyone. Then that also leads to will the console be popular. Will there be more exclusives for the system. Something like not reimaginings but completely new games we've never seen before. If successful will there be more consoles in the future? "Wouldn't that be something".

The plan is to come out with brand new games and experiences every 10 - 14 days.  And most of the games are simple for everyone to play... so just like a simple deck of cards can provide years of enjoyment (or how folks are still playing a simple bowling demo on the Wii 14 years later), we feel that it's the fun factor and simplicity... but most of all... the "want" of being together and playing with family & friends that is the thing that will keep people coming back for more.

You act very professional during all the interviews. I cannot understand why certain people want to cause problems for no reason. What is the underlying reason for this narcissistic behavior? Not to be negative, but I would still like to knock out that TonyTGD dude's teeth out. I can't stand that no talent ass clown!

What I find funny sometimes is that I'll see someone get "triggered" in the comments section and I'll call them out by repeating what they said in a triggered voice or answer their question in a triggered voice and people will immediately say.   OMG!!!  Look how "Triggered" and "upset" Tommy is!!  He can't take criticism!!"

Uh.. no ding dongs... I was actually just having a little fun at your expense.   :)

Old School is one of the most underrated homebrews on the Inty. Seriously fun. On the next next Intellivisionaries episode I think we're going to be doing our top ten of the Original 125 as well as our top 5-10 homebrews and, spoiler alert, Old School will be on mine. 👍🏻

Any game where you throw stuff at bullies sounds amazing to me.  :)

I bought this game, have it in a box but haven't played it much... I'll need to revisit this weekend.

as a guy with patents, once its patent pending , you can discuss it. Thats why you get the patent pending. It gives you a year to start the clock on your patent and talk about it and begin to sell

The buttons aren't "patent pending" I just didn't want to reveal the design until folks have a chance to play with them.

you could do some patent searches, but only on full patents. Patent pending are place holders, your patent could still get rejected if its pending

Things like this already exist so wouldn't be for us to patent.  Maybe the "design"

I don't know if anyone noticed, but that shitty channel that attracted all the haters like Convoy, etc... "Cohesive Friendship Unit" was in the Rich stream begging for an interview a few times before they got tired of it.

They probably had a few bathroom accidents watching Rich get over 1,000 viewers and watching all the chatters go from negative to positive listening to Tommy and seeing how genuine he is.

All these haters and Pat and Ian creating this controversy and the feud with Reviewtech is going to end up selling more consoles.

Yep!  That's why I try to do as many interviews as possible.

Lets face it... if the machine was so horrible and uninteresting then no one would care or cover it at all.

Definitely LOVE that we are pushing peoples buttons.  We are interesting.  Way better than being boring and forgotten or no one caring.  Good or bad... people are talking about it, reacting to it and continue discussing it.  This is what I keep telling the haters, but they don't get the irony.

:)

I don't know Tommy, but from what I have seen of him on interviews, he seems like a guy to go have a beer with. He acts very professional. These trolls that talk shit and try to create problems are afraid to have an interview with him because they are cowards and probably not that intelligent.

You have beer... I'll have a root beer.  (I don't drink alcohol... never have).

But no worries.  I'm buying!!

So then will I still have a chance to get the wood grain version from a local retailer like gamestop or best buy?

I had to pass on the pre-orders from the Intellivision website because with the loss of orders at my work from the shutdown I wasn't sure if I'd still have a job when the ship date arrived. Only to have our supervisor tell us that things are looking better than originally predicted and they might actually have to call back some of the people who took the voluntary layoffs - at which point the pre-orders had been closed.

Hi!,

No, at this point we are only going to offer the Vintage Woodgrain through us and not to retail (never say never though I guess... if a big retailer gave us an amazing offer I wouldn't be against it).  :)   But as of right now, the only way will be through us direct.

BUT... we are currently running our direct VIP program on one of our partner sites.  It's currently on Fig.co.   So you can get one for a limited time there!

So  @Tommy Tallarico. I have a question about the stick.on buttons.   Nintendo did something like this for the original ds for an analog stick.  I was wondering if  this will be a major improveimpr.ober that

.im.unsure if any others have done anything like that  outside of soecial case attachments for phones.

It isn't really going to be for a lot of games for the Amico controller as the current controller works totally great... I think they will mostly be used for the Amico app on mobile devices.  For example... for Moon Patrol I much prefer just tapping half the screen to jump and half the screen to fire (or the side buttons)... but some may prefer buttons.

The idea behind using them on the actual Amico controller just gives yet more super cool ways to configure or play if you'd like.

i wasn't able to watch the interview and rich seemed to only upload the last two hours so i didn't hear the full disclosure on the controllers. But... i take it you're going to be able to add your own auxiliary buttons upon the screen? and if that's the case, is intellivision going to release some sort of official, specifically designed set of extra buttons that you'll have to purchase as an addendum to the controllers? how will that work?

When you purchase an Amico it will come with 2 sets of buttons and "discs".  So 4 player tactile right out of the box (when you use them on 2 mobile devices).

You'll also be able to purchase packs of 8 at retail or online.

Thanks Tommy.  Tragically my girlfriend's sister passed away yesterday and we've really been devastated here.  I'm trying to pour myself into work and my channel stuff to compensate but it's very hard not to just stop and not want to continue working. 😢

Hey there! Just wanted to bring up one thing. (It might have been mentioned already since your video, but just in case.)  The 35,000 units per month is on a single line. Our manufacturing partner has 10 lines they can dedicate to the Amico!

Yeah.  I mentioned this in the comments on the video also.  :)

Hey @RxScram, I live in Spain. As of today, what are the release dates and number of units for this country?

Right now for 2020 the retail distribution may only be in Germany & UK.  Depends on when we can start making them and how many we can make.  Eventually we will be in Spain of course... but probably not in 2020.  Although pre-ordering direct will get you access.  You'll unfortunately probably need to pay extra taxes (import taxes?) and shipping.  :(

The entire 4 hours is there once you start playing it.  Not sure if there was a glitch when it first uploaded as I saw that as well (that it was only 2 hours).  The last 2 hours I thought were better.  :)

I don't see the live feed.  Maybe Rich shut that off or something?  Not sure.
