Me too. I grew up in California when this was on. My stepfather watched it every Saturday. 🙄

Then I'd go outside and see a world without twangy inbreds and hats with price tags still hanging off them.

You know what's interesting?  Is that with the box art of these older games, you think/hope the actual games look like that.  It's always cool to see the effort put into the cover art.

Hahaha! I guess it was how they had to sell them, because the actual games never lived up to the promise of the artwork.

Of all the videos Tommy has done lately the one where he talks about having the box art for the system done intrigued me most! Can’t wait to see it and unbox the system!

So a little history of my life in gaming started on Intellivision my parents owned one before I was born lots of great memories playing on it especially with my dad.  Moved on to NES then SNES still played a lot with my dad.  When N64 & PlayStation launches dad and I couldn’t decide so over a couple weekends we rented a N64 from the video store plus 3 games Turok, and a Star Wars game amount those and tried it out we both decided too much going on with that controller for us,

There with you. I actually bought the n64 when it came out with turok and had it a month and sold the console and games. I personally hated the turok game gave me serious headaches.  Not sure why because I play modern games today.  But I did in turn buy a ps1 and loved it.

Tim Lapetino’s book, Art of Atari, was amazing. 

 

I realized the box art had nothing to do with what you saw on screen, but not much was cooler than seeing a massive store shelf with those boxes. They really sucked me in. So reading about the artwork was a nice treat. They really did a nice job on those graphics.

 

I would have sworn Tommy mentioned a similar book for Intellivision, but I may be mistaken. Maybe that would be part of the history of Intellivision overall.

Ueah it definitely was on the last reviewtech interview.  Tommy mentioned it would be really cool and different on how it would open or something to that effect

Where I grew up (Northern Arkansas & Southern Missouri) it was basically a documentary with jokes. It is still on (in re runs) on RFID TV, a rural/farming oriented cable channel. Pretty much everyone back home gets that channel. So from now on every time you read my posts you need to imagine faint dueling banjos and pigs squeals in the background

This is exactly the kind of Donkey Kong port that we SHOULD have gotten back in 1982.

 

The original was one of the worst Intellivision games and a complete slap to the face for Intellivision users. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game back in the day and boy oh boy was i ever disappointed. The sound effects made my ears bleed!🥵

 

 

I'd be curious to know some backgroud story of how this port came to be. Did they hire a programmer that was green and couldn't program his way out of a wet paper bag? Or did Coleco say "Make a REALLy crappy port of Donkey Kong for the Intellivision and we will hire you!"😄
