atarifan88 #23927 Posted October 13, 2020 Finally got to try the Breakout demo. I was unsure if I was even going to like it as I am not crazy about ball and paddle games, but this was a great twist on the original! Even my wife was looking over my shoulder with interest. I proudly told her, this will be on the new Amico. One question, how do you quit the program? I tried hitting escape and nothing so I did a control-alt-delete and selected end program. Surely there has to be a better way...

CurlyQ, your assistance is needed in aisle 5: nuts, nut boxing, and assorted nut punches. lol, don't forget about Noogies and Purple Nurples. I've had my fair share. noogie: a hard poke or grind with the knuckles, especially on a person's head. purple nurple: (slang) The act of taking a person's nipple between the thumb and forefinger and then twisting it around roughly. Also, for those that don't know or don't remember: both Intellivision controllers were always active no matter who's turn it was. At any point during a game the second controller could be used to maliciously gutter your ball in Bowling or shank your ball into the trees in Golf. The clicking sound was always a clear giveaway that your competition was trying to sabotage your turn. This was one of the things about the OG Intellivision that started A LOT of fights, noogies, purple nurples, nut punches, you name it. (Good times! lol) Surely these old-school shenanigans have been thought-out for the new Amico? @Tommy Tallarico Speaking of nuts... 2

IntelliMission #23934 Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) Is it me or is the Amico the first console in history to be fun 6 months before the release date? Edited October 13, 2020 by IntelliMission

I think that’s what I resorted to the first time.
vongruetz #23936 Posted October 13, 2020 Something that really surprised me about the gameplay video was all of the games that are coming out for Amico that were not shown. Imagine a game console with so many games at launch that you can show 30 of them, and still not get to them all. How many exclusive games for the PS5 have been shown? 3 maybe? Yet here we are with over 30 games that we know of... and more that we don't. Exciting stuff.

That hasn't been part of the design since the middle of last year. Here is Tommy's post about that from June 2019 -> Edited October 14, 2020 by RxScram Clarified when port was dropped, and linked Tommy's post.

Cranker #23947 Posted October 14, 2020 While I appreciate the intellivision team giving us demos , I don’t really have the desire to play the Moon Patrol or Breakout demos on my phone or PC. It’s fun to just test it out a few times but that’s about it. I want to play with a proper controller as it was meant to be played . I think it might give potential customers the wrong idea about what IE is trying to create and give off a mobile phone vibe. Then again the target audience are probably not downloading the demos. Is it just me ?

Is it just me ? I think that is a legitimate concern if they were in active advertising mode for the main audience. My theory is these are just some bones that Tommy is throwing the portion of the retro community that is paying attention and maybe to give some cred about games really being in development for the system. I doubt we will be seeing PC downloads and such once it gets close to launch

I doubt we will be seeing PC downloads and such once it gets close to launch I agree. I’m just not a fan of mobile anything and I need the proper controls when I play a game . That’s why space invaders , asteroids , breakout and actually pretty much any game on any console or arcade machine etc loses so much when played without the intended controller . But I get it and it’s still cool 😎
